Red Bull and Shane van Gisbergens dominance has continued in the first weekend of the Townsville doubleheader; in what was a repeat of yesterdays race, Shane came back to overtake his teammate for victory in the dying laps of the race.

The kiwi has claimed his 10th race victory of the year and his 50th of his career, taking him to sixth on the all-time win list and putting him in a prime position to take out the championship.

History is on his side for a championship victory in 2021, with nobody losing the championship after ten wins in a championship season.
However, it’s not all, set in stone with significant events like Bathurst and 300 points on offer; a lot can go wrong or great at the mountain.

Whincup lead for the majority of the weekend’s races and even gained pole today but just could not stop a hard-charging Van Gisbergen.

Townsville seems to be a home away from home for Triple Eight, who have now secured a one-two finish on the streets eight times out of the last twelve events.

The action-packed weekend closes out the first weekend of action in Townsville, with teams taking in the surf, sand and sunshine before all going racing next weekend.
