The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) and Myer have officially announced Melbourne It-Girl Stephanie Smith as the 2016 Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador. The Instagram-famous model will be the face of Myer Fashions on the Field, which will this year move to Flemington’s fabulous new fashion and entertainment quarter, The Park. Ms Smith said she’s delighted to represent the VRC and Myer at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, in a year that sees the biggest ever shake-up of Australia’s largest outdoor fashion event. “It has been a dream of mine to represent the VRC and Myer since I first visited Flemington,” Ms Smith said. “The energy and fashion at the Melbourne Cup Carnival is just incredible, and this year will be more exciting than ever with the unveiling of The Park and the new supersized Myer Fashions on the Field enclosure which is set to be a standout.” Although she never had the chance to own a horse herself, Ms Smith’s love for horses saw her spend most weekends growing up trail riding at a horse-riding centre near her family’s holiday house. Having just returned to Melbourne after a successful working-holiday in France, London and New York, some of the world’s fashion capitals, the in-demand Chadwick model is well-placed to judge Australia’s largest and most prestigious outdoor fashion event. “I am thrilled to be a part of the celebration of world-class racewear fashion that the Melbourne Cup Carnival is famous for,” Ms Smith said. “Two of my favourite designers are Asilio and Acler, and one for that touch of glam, Misha Collection. My go-to milliners are Viktoria Novak and Nerida Winter.” As Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador, Ms Smith will join a star-studded judging panel to select the winning looks on all three days of the Women’s Racewear competition, including the 2016 National Final on Crown Oaks Day. VRC Chief Executive Simon Love said Ms Smith is the perfect fit for this year’s Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador role. “With our unveiling of The Park at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, we wanted our Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador to reflect the playful glamour that The Park will become renowned for. “Stephanie’s love of fashion and her energetic and fun nature ensures she will be perfectly placed to represent Myer Fashions on the Field in its exciting new location in The Park,” said Mr Love. Ms Smith’s first official appearance will be at Flemington on Thursday 8 September for the annual Myer Spring Fashion Lunch. Myer Fashions on the Field commences on AAMI Victoria Derby Day and continues on Emirates Melbourne Cup Day and Crown Oaks Day.
