Fashion design pair open new concept store under Hilton Surfers Paradise as part of urban renewal project Gold Coast fashion designers Joanne Rahn & Leina Broughton are the “new kids on the block” at the High Street retail precinct located under the Hilton Surfers Paradise. The pair has joined forces to showcase their fashion and swimwear collections at a new specialty retail space namedcollaboration+. Collaboration+ is an interactive design concept store offering customers a first-hand opportunity to meet the designers, and receive professional advice on which styles suit best. The personalised shopping experience will reinforce High Street Surfers Paradise as a Gold Coast fashion destination, made possible through the not-for-profit urban renewal organisation, GoldSpaces. The pair has taken a three-month lease on the space, and transformed the raw, empty shell into an “industrial chic” boutique. The space features an eclectic range of garments, with Broughton specialising in classic and corporate looks, and Rahn showcasing swimwear and fashion co-ordinates from her two labels, Glamorous Life by Joanne Rahn and MOJOZ. “It is every designers dream to have their own retail space – I am very excited about this opportunity,” says Rahn. “Leina and I have relished the challenge of bringing our visions for the space to life.” Rahn graduated with a Bachelor of Communications in 1999, but always knew fashion was her destiny. She took a giant leap seven years ago starting MOJOZ Swimwear, a “fun and funky” swimwear label designed for fashion conscious females who like to stand out in the crowd in playful prints and bright colours Rahn’s new label, Glamorous Life by Joanne Rahn specialises in unique and bold statement swimwear, and effortless fashion co-ordinates designed for sophisticated women of all ages. Broughton has a technical background in womenswear, and has worked for many of the biggest names in Australian fashion over her 17-year career, including Nicola Finetti, Lisa Ho, Tim O’Connor and Josh Goot, before heading up the technical team for Country Road brand, Trenery. For the past two-and-a-half years, Broughton has run her own label aimed at professional women, and now sells to 18 independent retailers around Australia. Both designers cater to women size 8-16. collaboration+, located at G08 High Street, Surfers Paradise, is one of five current GoldSpaces activations on the Gold Coast, between Southport and Burleigh Heads.]]>
