The Fig ‘n’ Fix is touted as a proper English pub on one of the Gold Coast’s busiest corners, with Artesian Hospitality opening the doors to the public this week.
The venue located at the well-known corner site at Orchid and Elkhorn avenues, a location that has previously housed a Louis Vuitton retail store and, more recently, a microbrewery. Under Artesian Hospitality’s vision, the building has undergone a full-scale redevelopment and re-emerged as a modern British pub built for day-to-night trading.
It also marks a notable first for the group. The Fig ‘n’ Fox represents Artesian Hospitality’s first freehold property acquisition and the first public-facing project in what they describe as a broader pipeline of developments currently underway.
Warm, familiar and built to feel like a local
Rather than going down the themed or novelty route, the design of The Fig ‘n’ Fox draws on traditional English pub architecture, leaning into classic materials, proportions and layouts.
Renders reveal a warm, moody fit-out inspired by long-standing English locals, complete with rich timber finishes, classic booth seating and a prominent feature bar steeped in old-world charm. The overall emphasis is on warmth, familiarity and comfort, with the goal of creating a space that feels inviting the moment you walk through the door.
“At its core, this is a proper British pub — built on warmth, familiarity, great food and cold beers,” Keegan said.
“It’s somewhere you can drop in for a pint after work, settle in for a Sunday roast, or spend an evening singing and dancing with friends. It’s the kind of unpretentious pub you’ll want to come back to week after week.”
