The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach has been called on this morning in building six to eight-foot waves at Bells Beach. The women’s Quarterfinals are currently underway followed by men’s round 3 and 4.
The men’s event will utilize the overlapping format and ski’s today.
“We are on first thing this morning,” said WSL Competition Director, Kieren Perrow. “We’ve got waves well into the double overhead range, as well as strong winds. We are on at 7:05 a.m. AEST. We are starting with the women’s Quarterfinals and then will move into the remaining heats of men’s Round 3 and men’s Round 4. We will overlap the men’s heats and the women’s Quarterfinal heats will be 35 minutes.”
There will be five Bells titles between competitors in Quarterfinal 2 as three-time winner Carissa Moore (HAW) takes on two-time winner Courtney Conlogue (USA) in a big matchup. In 2017, the two had an epic paddle battle for priority and will rematch today for a spot in the Semifinals.
