World Supercross is making its long-awaited return to Australia in 2025—and this time, it’s swapping the red dirt of the west for the golden sands of the east. For the first time ever, the championship will roar into the Gold Coast, with Cbus Super Stadium set to host the world’s premier supercross athletes as they battle it out for global glory.

Following the high-octane success of last year’s double-header in Perth, the move to Queensland marks an exciting new chapter for the World Supercross Championship. The Gold Coast, known for its iconic beaches, vibrant nightlife, and near-endless sunshine, offers a striking new setting for fans and riders alike. It’s a city built for entertainment—and come race day, it’s set to deliver just that.

Tim Mander, Queensland’s Minister for Sport and Racing, summed up the excitement in true local spirit: “Sun, surf and supercross. This is the perfect event for the Gold Coast, for tourists and motorsport enthusiasts alike! This is a global event with huge reach, another fantastic addition to the Queensland sporting calendar, and a great opportunity for kids to be inspired to get involved in sport and active recreation.”

Fans can expect more than just racing when the event rolls into town. The 2025 season is shaping up to be the most expansive yet, with the Gold Coast joining other new destinations including London, Buenos Aires, and Cape Town. The move reflects World Supercross’ ongoing mission to grow the sport’s global footprint while delivering elite-level racing and unforgettable experiences for fans around the world.

At the centre of it all will be Cbus Super Stadium—a venue already familiar with transforming into a motorsport haven thanks to its hosting of events like Monster Jam and Nitro Circus. Now, it’s preparing to go one better, as Kristian Blundell, Stadium Manager, explained: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing the FIM World Supercross Championship to the Gold Coast for the first time, and we can’t wait to see the field transformed into a dirt track for the world’s best riders to test their speed and skill. With Monster Jam and Nitro Circus already under our belt, Cbus Super Stadium is fast becoming the home of major motorsport events, further showcasing the versatility of the venue.”

For Aussie fans, the return of World Supercross is more than just a thrill—it’s a celebration of a deep-rooted passion. Last year’s Perth event saw sellout crowds and world-class competition, with champions Eli Tomac (450cc) and Shane McElrath (250cc) each dominating both nights of racing. That electric atmosphere is set to return, only this time on the Gold Coast, where even more fans will get a chance to witness the sport’s biggest names up close.

Tom Burwell, Chief Executive Officer of World Supercross, shared his excitement about bringing the action to a fresh Aussie crowd: “I absolutely loved being down on the West Coast last season. The fans were fantastic, and we know the passion of Australia’s supercross fans runs deep across the country. So that’s why we’re bringing World Supercross to the Gold Coast, offering a chance for even more local fans to experience the world’s best riders in action up close. At an incredible venue, in front of what I’m sure will be an electric crowd, I can’t wait to see the racing unfold in yet another continent – bring it on.”

The World Supercross Gold Coast event is expected to draw thousands of fans from around the country and beyond, as the sport continues to rise in popularity. With more race locations and the full 2025 season calendar still to be announced, anticipation is already building for what promises to be a blockbuster year for the sport.
