The world’s best surfers are converging upon the picturesque shores of Bells Beach in Torquay gearing up for the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Presented by Bonsoy, Stop No. 4 of the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). From March 26 to April 5, the surfers will tackle the legendary break, aiming to move their way into the history books and ring the iconic bell.

The 2024 CT season has already been a rollercoaster of thrilling rides and unexpected twists. The first three stops witnessed remarkable performances, setting the stage for an electrifying competition at Bells Beach. From the powerful breaks of Pipeline and Sunset Beach in Hawaii to the challenging waters of Portugal’s MEO Rip Curl Pro, surfers have showcased their skills and resilience, paving the way for an exhilarating showdown on the  Australian leg of the competition..

Bells Beach, steeped in surfing history, offers a unique test for the competitors. Unlike the previous stops, where the waves varied in character, Bells demands a perfect blend of power, precision, and patience. Surfers must navigate the open, powerful walls with impeccable timing, ready to adapt to the ever-changing conditions dictated by long-period swells, Southern Ocean cold fronts, and massive tidal movements.

Within the event’s footprint lie several iconic waves – The Bowl, Rincon, and Winki Pop – each presenting its own set of challenges. Clean lines and flawless execution are paramount, as evidenced by the illustrious list of previous winners whose names adorn the famous Bells’ stairs. As the 61st edition unfolds, the world’s best surfers are vying for the opportunity to etch their names alongside the sport’s legends.

The event also welcomes wildcard entrants and injury replacements, adding another layer of excitement to the competition. Rip Curl team-rider and former CT competitor, Morgan Cibilic (AUS), steps in to replace Joao Chianca (BRA), while Sophie McCulloch (AUS) fills in for Carissa Moore (HAW) until the Mid-season Cut. Additionally, the winners of the Rip Curl Victoria Trials will secure the final two spots, earning the chance to compete on the grand stage of Bells Beach.

As anticipation builds and the countdown to the competition begins, surf fans are travelling across the easter break down the great ocean road and millions more worldwide are eagerly awaiting the thrilling displays of athleticism, courage, and skill that are synonymous with the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. With the Mid-season Cut looming after Margaret River, the stakes are higher than ever, promising a spectacle that will captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on surfing history.

The world’s best surfers have arrived, ready to conquer the legendary waves of Bells Beach and stake their claim to surfing immortality. As the competition unfolds against the backdrop of stunning coastal vistas, one thing is certain – the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach 2024 will be a celebration of the sport’s finest talent and an unforgettable chapter in the annals of surfing lore.
