Alpine set out on National Tour ahead of forthcoming album!

digitally, on CD, and can also grab themselves a limited edition Yuck tote bag when pre-ordering deluxe 180g vinyl via Alpine’s own special pre-order bundles. With a rather timely April Fool’s Day release, the single has already received overwhelming support and praise in its short life; currently triple j’s # 1 most played track in April and the spectacular video accompaniment received NPR’s First Watch in the USA, Clash Music’s Clip Of The Day in the UK and Channel V’s Ripe Clip Of The Week. ‘Foolish’ in essence embodies so many of the experiences that inspired the lyrics on their second record, as well as the title which is lifted from a lyric in the track ‘Yuck’. It sees the band explore their ‘yuck’ reactions to ‘first world problems’; awkward dates, a distaste for romance, lust when lust was lost, plastic vanity, foolish attraction and ego against egos. Now the band get to experience the excitement and angst associated with the highs and minimal (bleary eyed) lows of a national tour once again. This time around Alpine are teaming up with Pearls, Darts and Olympia who will be sharing important stage warming duties. Vocalist Lou James comments, “We are beyond excited to be hitting the road again this June. We’ll have a glam studded line up with killer supports from Pearls, Darts and Olympia who will rock your socks off. This tour will be a pop-tastic dream with a drop of sass and we can’t wait to see you there!”. Musically, inspiration came from the desire to push the ‘pop’ genre to new and often weird places, “Most of the music of the songs came from a textural or harmonic idea that I was curious about. I wanted to see if certain things would work in a pop song” comments Christian O’Brien, Guitarist and first time co-producer of the album. Yuck was recorded in Melbourne at MOOF studios, joining forces with A Is for Alpine producer, best friend and collaborator Dann Hume (Sticky Fingers, Lisa Mitchell, HOPIUM), who produced the record alongside O’Brien. Yuck is the Melbourne Sextet’s follow up to their debut A Is For Alpine, which peaked at #1 on iTunes and #11 on the ARIA album Charts, and was awarded iTunes Alternative Australian Album of the Year and The Age EG Australian Album of the Year. The US release of A Is For Alpine saw the band trek back and forth across America playing with the likes of Grouplove, Empire of the Sun and Crystal Fighters. They also performed a coveted spot on the US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles.
