For 5 weeks Australian Pet Owners around the country had been gushing about their fur-babies online in response to a callout from Lyka Pet Food to tell them “what makes your pet so #Lykable (likeable).

The competition had pet owners around the country going ga-ga online, posting the most likeable poses of their dogs and gushing about how these dogs have improved and changed their owners lives.

The avid animal fans posted images of pets helping do push-ups, to claims their dog cured depression, and a perfect pal to spend lazy Sunday afternoons at the beach with.

Pet owners showed their good spirit in wonderful support for one another, with many connecting to form support squads and cheer each-other on.

The official winner of the Australia’s Most #Lykable Dog title was the ever-smiling Sean the Tibby Pug who “lights up the room and brings joy to whoever he is around”. Sean is the winner of one a year’s supply of Lyka dog food, tailored specifically to his needs, based on the vet derived algorithm.

The competition successfully helped two shelter dogs Eddie, and Layla find their home. Pam Whitwell from SeqK9 Dog Shelter, who was particularly fond of Eddie, said “Eddie came into Seqk9 rescue from Maryborough pound. He received some amazing training whilst in care and to see him adopted to a lovely family is a joy all foster carers know well. We wish Eddie all the best and hope that all rescue dogs get a second chance.” Lyka Founder and CEO Anna Podolsky said “ We are truly grateful for the wonderful response we received about the competition and we couldn’t have succeeded without our partners at the SeqK9 shelter.” The winner, Sean the Tibby, was chosen by judges Owen George of GC Mag, Agnes Beugnon of Australian Dog Lover Magazine, and Podolsky, along with four runners-up. Miesha the Greyhound has been awarded Australia’s Most Popular Dog 2019, and will receive a 5kg box of Lyka Pet Food and a trophy for her mantlepiece. Miles the Cavoodle and Jack the perfect poser will both receive 1 month of Lyka pet food. Rosco the curious boxer will receive a designer leash from Adora Barcelona. Podolsky hopes the competition will grow in the future and give Lyka a chance to provide quality healthy dog food to more pet owners.
