Gold Coast locals are in for a bit of a treat this week as Ben Hannant, the beloved former NRL star and radio personality, makes a triumphant return to the airwaves. Teaming up with Elliott Lovejoy, Ben will co-host the new local morning show every Saturday, “Deadset Legends with Elliott Lovejoy & Ben Hannant,” set to debut on Saturday, 17 February, airing from 8 to 11 am on 92.5 Triple M Gold.

Hailing from the sunny shores of the Gold Coast, Ben brings with him a wealth of experience both on and off the field. With a career spanning over 12 seasons in the NRL, including stints with powerhouse clubs like the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys, Ben is no stranger to the spotlight. Renowned for his prowess on the footy field, he’s affectionately known as “The Polar Bear” and has etched his name in the annals of NRL history.

But Ben’s story extends far beyond the footy pitch. Born and raised on the Coast, he embodies the quintessential Aussie spirit – down-to-earth, family-oriented, and always up for a laugh. As one of 11 siblings and a proud father of eight children with his wife Emma, Hannant knows the importance of big family values. Despite his larger-than-life persona, he remains grounded, cherishing the simple joys of life and relishing in the laughter and love shared around the family table.

Transitioning from the field to the studio, he found a new calling in radio, hosting the Breakfast shift on 90.9 Sea FM from the end of 2017 to 2023 with Bianca Dye and Lakey. Now, he’s gearing up to bring his trademark charm and infectious energy back to the airwaves, promising listeners a morning filled with entertainment, insight, and plenty of laughs.

“I can’t wait to get back in the studio and deliver a show for the Coast!” exclaimed Hannant. “I’m really excited to join Elliott and share local stories, talk about the things that really matter to our community, build a connection with everyone around the Gold Coast, and celebrate what makes our city so special. Let’s get started!”

Joining Ben in the studio is his co-host, Elliott Lovejoy, a seasoned radio veteran with a passion for sports and a knack for entertaining. With over 13 years of experience in the radio industry, Elliott’s enthusiasm for local footy games and his infectious energy make him the perfect complement to Ben’s laid-back charm.

Together with Elliott the duo will delve into all things Gold Coast, from the latest footy club news to honoring unsung heroes in the community. With their finger on the pulse of local matters and a deep dive into the world of sports, listeners can expect to listen to an engaging, fun and dynamic show that captures the essence of the Gold Coast lifestyle.

Blair Woodcock, SCA Head of Content – Regional, expressed his excitement about the new show, stating, “No one knows the Coast like Ben, which makes him the perfect person to combine his community passion and sporting excellence with Elliott, to create a standout Saturday show for this growing city.”

So mark your calendars and tune in starting Saturday, 17 February, to catch the debut of “Deadset Legends with Elliott Lovejoy & Ben Hannant” on 92.5 Triple M Gold. Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or simply love a good laugh, this is one show you won’t want to miss. Get ready for a morning of entertainment, insight, and plenty of Gold Coast flair!
