A new house, the original format, and a whole lot of nostalgia.

It’s official: Big Brother is back on 10 and heading home to where it all began – Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. A brand-new house has been built on familiar ground, reigniting the excitement of Australia’s original reality TV juggernaut.

More than two decades since it first captured national attention, the iconic social experiment is returning with a fresh twist while holding firm to its beloved roots. Expect the unexpected – with live nominations, live evictions and, yes, even live streaming. This is Big Brother as fans remember it, but made for a new era.

Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content and Programming at Paramount Australia, confirmed what many had been hoping for: “The demand for a reboot of the original format has been deafening, and we have listened. With a brand-new house built on familiar ground, this season will be centred on real people with real stories, talking in real time.”

Taking the helm as host is Mel Tracina, well-known from The Cheap Seats and Nova radio. For her, the move back to Dreamworld just makes sense: “The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right. We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer).”

Audiences won’t miss a moment, with the show airing six nights a week and live streaming available across all screens and platforms. It’s Big Brother, bigger and bolder, but still beautifully familiar.

Amelia Fisk, Director of Content at Endemol Shine Australia, spoke to the legacy and excitement around the revival: “Big Brother revolutionised a reality TV movement over 24 years ago… We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the OG Big Brother back to 10 and to its home at Dreamworld in Queensland.”

Dreamworld itself is buzzing with anticipation. Greg Yong, Dreamworld CEO, called the return a “full-circle moment” and a celebration of the legacy that helped shape both the theme park and Australian television: “We’re proud to be part of this exciting new chapter and look forward to sharing the magic of Big Brother’s return with fans across the country. Welcome home, Big Brother.”

The production is also making a strong contribution behind the scenes. Supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, the new season is creating industry opportunities. Jacqui Feeney, Screen Queensland CEO, noted that the production will employ 95 crew members and offer four paid attachment positions: “They will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts in critical areas such as outside broadcasting.”

Big Brother is ready to shake things up once again. The stage is set at Dreamworld — and Big Brother is watching.
