As the Big Pineapple Festival gears up to mark its 10th anniversary on Saturday, 1 November 2025, organisers are preparing for what promises to be a landmark celebration of Australian music. Held in the scenic Pineapple Fields of Woombye, the festival has become a staple of the Sunshine Coast’s cultural calendar and a powerhouse platform for homegrown talent.

The upcoming event follows the festival’s triumphant return in 2024 after a three-year hiatus, a comeback that saw it once again crowned Best Music Festival at the Queensland Music Awards. This latest win marks the festival’s fourth title and its third consecutive award in the People’s Choice category — a nod to the loyalty of the fans affectionately known as “Pineys”.

Since launching in 2013, the Big Pineapple Festival has cemented its reputation as a launchpad and showcase for Australian artists across genres including rock, indie, hip-hop, and electronic. From emerging talents to industry heavyweights, its stages have hosted a diverse array of performers such as Rufus Du Sol, Hayden James, Alison Wonderland, Birds of Tokyo, Grinspoon, The Living End, Vera Blue, and The Veronicas. The 2024 edition continued this tradition with crowd favourites like The Amity Affliction, Tones And I, Bliss n Eso, and Peking Duk leading the charge.

“When we started this festival years ago, our goal was to put Australian artists front and centre and create an unforgettable experience for fans,” said Mark Pico, founder and Festival Director. “To be here over a decade later with the festival stronger than ever and even earning industry awards again… is incredibly humbling. It’s a testament to the amazing community of artists, attendees and partners who have believed in the Big Pineapple Festival from the start.”

The festival’s growth over the past decade has also translated into major economic benefits for the region. According to an independent financial impact survey, the 2024 festival injected over $10 million into the local economy, with thousands travelling from across the country to attend. Sunshine Coast Council, a long-time supporter of the event, says its backing has been a worthwhile investment.

“We are proud to support an occasion that brings our community together and boosts our local economy,” said Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Rosanna Natoli. “Over ten years, this festival has showcased incredible local talent and put our region on the map as a music destination.”

This commitment to nurturing new voices continues in 2025 with the introduction of a special performance slot for the Rising Star winner of the newly created Sunshine Coast Music Awards. The award program, launching this year, will recognise up-and-coming talent from the region, with the top artist earning the chance to perform at the Big Pineapple Festival alongside established acts.

By embracing both legacy and innovation, the Big Pineapple Festival is not only celebrating its history but also laying the groundwork for the next generation of Australian music.

Festival-goers can expect more announcements in the lead-up to the November event, including the highly anticipated lineup and ticket release dates. For now, fans are urged to mark 1 November in their calendars for what is shaping up to be a momentous edition of one of Queensland’s most beloved festivals.
