Brisbane set to host largest St Patrick's Day Festival with launch of Paddyfest

The city will light up green this St Patrick’s Day, with pipe bands, green top hats and Irish dancers raising their Guinness to the launch of Brisbane’s largest full-swing festival, Paddyfest on March 17, 2018.

Paddyfest expects to draw in a colourful crowd of over 5,000 to commemorate the annual Irish celebration in this first time event, starring renowned Irish stand-up comedian, Jimeoin as the headline act.

A packed program of traditional Irish song and dance will kick off from nam, creating a boisterous atmosphere of entertainment all day and night. Acts include the City of Brisbane Pipe Band, Ukelele Dead Squad, Tartan Shamrock, U2AB and Sharron Watkins Band, along with performances from top traditional Irish dancers.

Held at the heritage-listed Eagle Farm Racecourse, the event will be the largest of its kind in Brisbane and promises ‘good beer and great craie’ in its first year celebrating all things Irish – beer, food, culture and entertainment.

The event will be bursting with some of Brisbane’s favourite food trucks including ‘Mac From Way Back’ and ‘IndiMex’ as well as more Irish-inspired options including the ‘Diddly Dee Food Truck’ – renowned for its authentic food all the way from Ireland.

Old favourites Guinness, Bailey’s Irish Cream and Magners Irish Cider will be flowing into the night, along with the festival’s signature cocktail, ‘Shamrock Juice’- think tasty green cocktail with Leprechaun dust.

For those with the luck of the Irish, there will be a number of competitions held over the day including a three-minute wing eating competition and best dressed contests.

Perfect for all ages, Paddyfest will have a designated Kids Zone featuring free rides, craft zone, and face painting for children to enjoy.

Tickets for Paddyfest are now on sale from S10 General Admission, with free entry to children under 12 years old. Anyone who pre-purchases a General Admission ticket will go into the draw to win 2 x return flights to Ireland.

For those wanting to take the celebrations to another level (literally), VIP Paddyfest Party tickets are available for $65. VIP guests will have access to The Society Rooftop, offering a birds-eye view of the Main Stage and will be able to purchase the much anticipated Leprechaun Punch Bowl.

Pre-purchased ticket holders can travel for free by bus and train to and from the event, which is another reason to get in now and secure your ticket.

So don your green shamrock, groom your leprechaun beard and join in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations at Paddyfest 2018!
