Broc Feeney Dominates in Townsville for 9th Win of 2025 Season

Broc Feeney dominates the NTI Townsville 500 to claim his first win at the circuit and extend his 2025 Supercars Championship lead.

Broc Feeney has etched his name into the streets of Townsville, claiming a commanding victory in today’s 200km race at the NTI Townsville 500 – his first win at the iconic Reid Park street circuit.

The Repco Supercars Championship leader kept his cool amid early race chaos to deliver his ninth win of the 2025 season and the Red Bull Ampol Racing team’s first Townsville triumph since 2022. The performance marked Feeney’s 21st career victory, nudging him to 19th on the all-time wins list.

The Gold Coast driver bounced back in emphatic style after finishing eighth in Friday’s opening race, extending his Championship lead over Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne to 201 points with just one race remaining this weekend.

“It feels awesome to finally tick off a win here in Townsville,” Feeney said post-race. “The team gave me a great car, and we made it count when it mattered most.”

Behind Feeney, Chaz Mostert stole the spotlight with an electrifying drive from 17th on the grid to second place, putting in a relentless charge through the field for Mobil 1 Optus Racing. Mostert’s comeback drive was one of the highlights of the day, as he weaved through traffic to secure a well-earned podium.

Matt Payne rounded out the top three, adding more valuable points to his Championship tally in a consistent run for Penrite Racing.

The race began in dramatic fashion when Nulon Racing’s James Golding slammed into the back of Thomas Randle’s Mustang, sending Golding’s Camaro airborne and briefly riding atop Randle’s car. Miraculously, both drivers emerged unscathed from the spectacular incident.

Pole-sitter David Reynolds, who had battled illness throughout the day, struggled to maintain pace and faded to finish 10th in the Tradie Camaro.

With the NTI Townsville 500 heading into its final day, all eyes turn to Sunday’s showdown. The action resumes with Qualifying at 10:05am, followed by the last Top Ten Shootout of the weekend. The final 200km race kicks off at 3:00pm AEST.

Fans can catch all the live action on Fox Sports and Kayo, with free-to-air coverage from 12pm on the Seven Network and 7plus.
