Beautiful Gowns and Beautiful Jewels will take over MBFF on Tuesday Evening in the Monili Jewellers Bridal Group Show.
For the first time, 2013 will see the Monili Jewellers Bridal Group Show, a show dedicated to bridal wear featuring breath taking designs from well-known Australian and Brisbane labels, Brides Desire by Wendy Sullivan, George Wu, Regalia Bridal Designs, Bertossi Brides, Darb Bridal Couture, Paul Hunt, Jack Sullivan Bridal, and Elizabeth de Varga Exclusive Fashions.
In another first for the festival, the show will see a collaboration between each designer and highly acclaimed international jewellers Monili Jewellers. The collaboration has seen each designer select a single gown from their collection and Monili Jewellers have then taken to designing and creating a piece of jewellery which will complement each gown.
One Brisbane designer making their MBFF debut in 2013 in the Monili Jewellers Bridal Group Show is Bertossi Brides. A true family business the Bertossi Brides team is Anne and her sister Jill. Jill takes on the day to day running of the business which frees up Anne to design and bring to life the beautiful couture gowns for which Bertossi Brides are known. Jill said that “it was inevitable that the sisters would end up in the fashion industry” with their “father a pattern cutter back in the UK and their mum a seamstress”, who still helps out regularly.
The sisters are showing 14 gowns in the show all from their new 2013 collection. The inspiration for the collection came from a trip the sisters took to Europe in 2012 and the feature piece in the show along with the entire collection feature Italian and French fabrics and lace also sourced during this trip. The sisters are excited to be making their debut and collaborating with Monili Jewellers. “The jewellers came to our studio in Paddington and viewed the gown so they could get a real feel for it” commented Jill. “We haven’t seen the design yet, we’re hoping to see it on Monday”.
The Monili Jewellers Bridal Group Show on Tuesday evening not only sees the launch of the new collection by Bertossi Brides but also the launch of Monili Jewellers into Australia with their first Australian store being in Brisbane.
