Counting down the days until Big City Lights

The Gold Coast is counting down the next 100 days until Big City Lights a new festival of light that is set to transform the Southport CBD

The Gold Coast is counting down the next 100 days until a festival of light illuminates Southport, Big City Lights* promises four nights of music, colour and creativity in the inaugural event.

Audiences are promised an illuminating free for everyone event, with public nighttime exhibitions when building facades and laneways of the city’s CBD will be transformed into hypnotic and technicolour displays. Leading local and national artists who work in the field of light, installation, architecture and digital design will have the unique task of creating this luminous version of the CBD.

The event is headed up by Placemakers* the people behind the city’s leading annual arts festival Bleach* with a program that showcases our corner of Queensland and the Gold Coast as a cultural destination.

“We’re thrilled to be announcing a new festival for the Gold Coast. At a time when arts and culture across Australia have been impacted by the pandemic, BIG CITY LIGHTS * is a reason for people to get out of the house, engage with their city, connect with their community and experience great art.” said CEO of Placemakers* Gold Coast and BIG CITY LIGHTS * Artistic Director, Rosie Dennis.

Get excited for Big City Lights * and stay tuned for the full program which is released on May 30.
