The Voice winner Harrison Craig, pop-rock band Little Sea, six-piece indie rock group Cheap Fakes and the acclaimed Anthony Callea are also set to wow crowds. In addition to the two main stages situated in Cavill Mall and on the Esplanade, a selection of bars and restaurants will be offering ‘in-venue’ entertainment throughout the precinct. Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Mike Winlaw said last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with record crowds pouring into Surfers Paradise, and this year is expected to be bigger and better. “The Gold Coast, and particularly Surfers Paradise, is an entertainment mecca, and while some venues have come and gone throughout the years, the spirit of live music lives on and will be strengthened in an exciting multi-street city festival,” Mr Winlaw said. “We are really pleased with the fantastic line-up that we have put together for Surfers Paradise LIVE 2016 – there’s a huge variety of musical styles – all with one common denominator – they are all great live acts. “Surfers Paradise LIVE is yet another addition to the free, family-friendly events calendar in the Surfers Paradise precinct that encourages drive-market and interstate visitation above seasonal average.” Boasting an iconic live music history, the Bombay Rock hosted rock royalty in the late 70s and early 80s including Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, The Divinyls, INXS and the Choirboys, as well as international headliners The Cure and Motorhead. Surfers Paradise became Australia’s most famous after-dark playground, with the Rose & Crown dominating in the 1990s and early 2000s with consistently packed audiences, as it became an incubator for a generation of Gold Coast talent including Triple J favourites The Daisycutters and The Winnie Coopers. The Trocadero and Elsewhere took the mantle in the second decade of the 21st Century as the two disparate venues fed the musical appetite of the next generation with national and international rock acts hosting a new generation of emerging electronica talent including Sneaky Sound System and The Presets. Now Surfers Paradise LIVE brings a blend of contemporary and heritage acts from genres best enjoyed live, including classic Aussie rock, dance-along pop, sweet soul and acoustic blues and roots. “We have a great music culture and the best possible climate for an outside music event like this,” Mr Winlaw said. “We work hard to provide entertainment for everyone who lives in and visits our city and Surfers Paradise LIVE is a great example of how we can continue to highlight the features of our town – sun, surf, stars and live music, for free.” Surfers Paradise LIVE Dates: May 6-8, 2016 Location: Various locations throughout Surfers Paradise Cost: Free Details: For more information or to view the full program of events, visit www.surfersparadise.com Line-up:
