Sandbar in Surfers Paradise
Our first venue The all-new Sandbar in Surfers Paradise sure has some new stories tell after close to twenty years in the business as a family run business, with all of the family still actively involved. \
Not only is it about the stunning new Hamptons-meets- harbour side fit out, but the fresh menu has also been styled by one of the best global Chef’s on the culinary planet. Diverse in offer with a contemporary take on some old favourites, the breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes capture the salty seaside spirit across a range of deliciously affordable house specialities. Head Chef, Maxie Hill (hailing from Ireland), worked for industry legend Rick Stein where he eventually rose to become his Head Chef over four years of mentoring. Travelling with the world with Rick working on his iconic cooking travel show, Maxie met some fantastic chefs on his journeys who shared their local secrets.
He took Sandbar’s idyllic location steps from the ocean and local passers-by style, smartly into the menu influence. Maxie says it’s all about “a fresh fusion of local produce to deliver exciting dishes at great, eat-every-day prices”. It’s a clean and straightforward approach from breakfast through to dinner. Skillet Eggs or a 6ft Offshore Smoothie Bowl at 7 am, Fish’n’Chips Rick Stein style for lunch and gourmet burgers with a modern twist for dinner. What’s proving to be popular 24/7 though, is the fantastic Hawaiian Poke Bowls packed with healthy ingredients like A-grade tuna, chilli and lime, avocado, ginger and wasabi mayo; try the amazing Kauai, Oahu, Maui or Molokai Bowl.
Also, they have just launched great weekly “What’s On”* deals running from Monday through Sunday for locals and visitors to make bank on. “Break-A- Go-Go” with $10 smoothie bowls and a $3 coffee, “Lunch-A- Lot” for $20 with a Blue Moon Beer and burger or poke bowl and cold-pressed juice and “Salty Sundays” with $12 coast fresh calamari and bowls, drink specials and live DJ on the lawn. “Humpday Helpa” on Wednesday nights offers wings and a beer for $20 or ribs, slaw and a beer for $35. But the big deal is Tuesday nights’ “Bring 4/40” where four people chose a poke bowl or burger for just $10 each!
With an extensive cocktail, wine and drinks list put together by one of their master bartenders and one of Queensland’s top three most significant beer offers including heaps of craft brews; the sipping choices match the eating experience perfectly in this casually-chic haven by the sea. To quote Maxie; “we have all the recipes for success” and when pairing this with the sandbar slogan “Good Times. All the Time”, you can’t go wrong at this Surfers Paradise institution.
