Doug Ellin, the creative mind behind the iconic HBO series Entourage, is once again looking to capture the magic of Hollywood with his new show Ramble On. On Tuesday, Ellin released an enticing new trailer for the scripted dramedy via the Victory the Podcast Instagram, reigniting buzz and sparking hope that the previously shopped series will finally find a home on a major platform.

Set in the chaotic world of Hollywood, Ramble On blends comedy, nostalgia, and sharp social commentary, starring a mix of industry veterans and rising talent. The star-studded cast includes Charlie Sheen in his first major series since Two and a Half Men, alongside Entourage alumni Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon—all playing fictionalised versions of themselves.

At the heart of Ramble On is a narrative that reflects real-world struggles of reinvention and relevance in Hollywood. The show follows Connolly as he attempts to launch a podcast empire—a plotline inspired by his real-life journey founding ActionPark Media, a multimedia production company and podcast studio. When Connolly’s character faces roadblocks, he ropes in Charlie Sheen to jumpstart the venture by starting his own podcast, introducing Charlie Sheen trying to claw his way back to stardom.

The series is packed with Entourage-style humour and signature Hollywood insider moments, with Ellin promising a mix of celebrity cameos, comedic antics, and heartfelt drama. It’s a story of second chances—not just for its characters, but for Ellin himself, who is ready to bring his signature voice back to TV screens.

“This Has Been Years in the Making”

Ellin, who also serves as co-founder of the production company Angry Lunch, has described Ramble On as a passion project. “This idea has been spinning in my head for years, and seeing it come to life is incredible,” Ellin shared in a statement last year. “I feel beyond grateful that so many of my Entourage crew and cast members, along with some of the most talented comedic forces in the industry, have joined us on this exciting new journey. We cannot wait to share this with the world.”

The new trailer certainly captures the energy Ellin is known for, teasing plenty of Hollywood high jinks, self-aware humour, and heartfelt moments of growth for its main cast. It’s a love letter to Los Angeles and the entertainment industry—warts and all.

From Entourage to Ramble On: A Reunion of Talent

Fans of Entourage will notice plenty of familiar faces both on-screen and behind the scenes. Kevin Dillon and Kevin Connolly, who starred as Johnny Drama and Eric Murphy respectively, bring their comedic chemistry to the series, this time playing heightened versions of themselves. Behind the camera, longtime Ellin collaborator Gary Goldman returns as an executive producer, alongside producer Jeremy Alter.

Mark Cuban, who previously worked with Ellin on Entourage, has expressed his excitement for the project. “I am so excited for Ramble On. I first worked with Doug on Entourage, and what he and Ted are doing with Angry Lunch is set to be one of the most innovative in the business,” Cuban said last year.

The Road Ahead: Will Ramble On Be Picked Up?

The release of the new trailer is a clear push to drum up interest in Ramble On, which was first announced in 2022. While no streaming platform or network has officially picked up the show, Ellin is clearly betting on the strength of the concept, the ensemble cast, and the fanbase he cultivated with Entourage.

With Hollywood’s ongoing love affair with nostalgic reboots and comebacks, Ramble On is poised to capitalise on the blend of familiarity and fresh storytelling. Whether or not it lands a platform, the buzz generated by the trailer and its premise has already set the stage for its potential success.

For fans of Entourage, or anyone looking for a light-hearted yet introspective dive into Hollywood’s ups and downs, Ramble On promises to deliver. Here’s hoping the series finds its footing, bringing Ellin and his cast of Hollywood veterans back to our screens.
