Get ready to let your hair down and groove your way into 2024 with a killer line up of electronic beats being served up on the Gold Coast.

As the sun starts to set on 2023, the unanimous feeling seems to be that it really is time to bid farewell to the year that was and let loose. And while there are plenty of conventional New Year’s shindigs; if you’re anything like me, you crave electronic beats and the familiar, embracing feeling we used to call PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect) found at quality dance parties. So, without further ado, here are my top picks for electronic music events on the Gold Coast that will set the stage for your epic electronic journey into 2024:

Our House New Years Eve

What was I saying about PLUR? With the most PLUR slogan in town and a glow theme “Our House Is Your House,” the Our House crew found their home earlier in the year at intimate speakeasy bar in Palm Beach, Suga. This is the go-to for real house music. Featuring Melbourne duo Rubber People (get in the mood with their latest single, “Raise Me Up”), Oscar De Lima, a back-to-back set by locals Ceccato and Beandip, Ben Anthony, Fonsirelli as well as Our House founder Andy Finn, the Our House New Year’s Eve party is guaranteed to be an amazing vibe – but you’ll need to act fast – online tickets have been snapped up, but there’s still hope at the door!

NYE 2023 – elsewhere

If you’re eager to roll into the new year in the club that feels like home, elsewhere’s NYE 2023x just might be the party for you. No tickets, no gimmicks – just pure, unadulterated tunes and a friendly and trustworthy atmosphere. Doors open at 9 pm, and it’s all about the quality beats courtesy of Latour, Jimmy D, Noah DeVega, Abel Mezzomo, Jaytee and CJ Wilton. This celebration doesn’t stop, with drinks flowing until 5am. For those daring souls pulling the all-nighter, you can catch the first sunrise of the new year over Cavil.

Top of the Morning presents NEW YEAR’S DAY Warehouse Party

Before you commit to an all-nighter on New Year’s eve or if you’re just not ready for the party to end, the Top of the Morning crew has got you covered with their top-notch New Year’s Day bash at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse for its second year running. Get ready for a genre-hopping journey ranging from groovy house and minimal techno to psy-tech and progressive, you’ll want all the energy to dance through the evening! On the decks are Dardi, Audible Thought, Reuben Stroud, Emma Grace, Sandman, Dani Luna, Plairae and Chubbytang, with visual performer Fearless adding some extra magic. Last year’s party was a sell-out, so be sure to grab your tickets here to avoid FOMO.

Need2Freak Festival NYE ‘23

If a festival is totally your vibe but you’re not feeling a long trek north, south or beyond, you’re in luck with the Need2Freak Festival conveniently located in Carrara. The Need2Freak team are bringing unmistakably underground sounds paired with all the fun and bouncy festival feels you crave. With two stages to choose from and a back-to-back set from Need2Freak founders Little Fritter and Wongo, this event should pack a punch. For the full line-up and ticket info head over to the Need2Freak website.

NIGHT 1 NYE @DWNSTRS

A new year is often a time for new beginnings and the team at Cooly’s iconic Rattlesnake Motel have embraced that wholeheartedly by choosing to launch their new space, ‘DWNSTRS’ on New Years Eve. Sporting a renovated room that supports Boiler Room style events (for the uninitiated, this type of event typically has the DJ in the centre of the space rather than at the front of the room). You can expect to groove the night away to a mix of commercial techno, house, and drum and bass, Tik Tok techno and UK garage. With Midnight Dance Party, Squid, Space Boy, Noizeh and Sunoe bringing the heat, you can expect a high energy start to 2024 at DWNSTRS. Tickets available online and on the door.
