Gold Coast’s favourite arts and cultural precinct, Home of the Arts (HOTA), is about to give Queenslanders a cultural dose of the King himself. Prepare your blue suede shoes because this winter, HOTA is exclusively hosting Elvis: A Musical Revolution. The show is set to hit the stage this coming June, following successful runs in Sydney and Melbourne.
After the smashing success of Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical, the producers are ready to dazzle the audience yet again with a high-energy, evocative show that promises to be a head-turner. They’ll be tracing the life and music of Elvis Presley, covering his humble beginnings in Mississippi, his triumphant 1968 comeback special, all the way to his ascension to the throne as the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
With an all-Australian cast, the musical aims to encapsulate the life of the cultural icon through remarkable choreography and an impressive lineup of hit songs. The objective is to leave the audience enthralled, tapping into the beat of classics and lesser-known gems alike.
Mik Auckland, Interim CEO at HOTA, emphasised the significance of the upcoming event, stating, “Having the Queensland exclusive run of this brand-new production is testament to HOTA’s growing reputation across the Australian musical theatre industry. HOTA and David Venn have been working towards this for some time and HOTA is thrilled to yet again roll out the red carpet and bring a world-class production to the residents and visitors of the Gold Coast.”
Running from the 22nd of June 2024 until the 21st of July 2024, Gold Coast will be the only Queensland location to experience the production. Over 35 thrilling shows will be staged, making it an unmissable event for both locals and tourists.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate is excited about the event, asserting, “This world-class production will put the hot into HOTA, in more ways than one. It’s a hot cast and a hot attraction exclusive to our arts and cultural precinct. Make a date with the box office and dig out your blue suede shoes.”
Elvis: A Musical Revolution will captivate audiences with over 40 songs, including ageless hits like “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” and “Heartbreak Hotel.” So, whether you’re a lifelong Elvis fan or new to the legacy, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
