This twisted tale of love, heartbreak and terrible back tattoos is the latest instalment, lifted from the Exes’ debut album When We Fall, due for release on March 3, 2017.
Premiering on Culture Collide and getting its first spin on Double J where it was playlisted instantly,‘The Devil’s Part’ is a sumptuous blend of impeccable harmonies, spine-chilling mandolin moments, haunting guitar arrangements and the age-old advice that the fool is ‘not what I need’. It would be obvious to say that this is a song about heartbreak. But it’s so much more than that. ‘The Devil’s Part’is a story of the undeniably common relationship saga of falling for the wrong person. Again. And again. It’s a tale of two people; one who knew better, who is, and may always be, tempted by the devil.
‘The Devil’s Part’ video was directed and co-written by acclaimed Sydney filmmaker, Nils Crompton. The narrative takes a sinister turn, with allusions to indie classic The Virgin Suicides and spine-chilling cult references galore.
This October the Exes are hitting the road to premiere ‘The Devil’s Part’, as well as tunes from their much-anticipated debut album, When We Fall. The band is bringing a killer rhythm section to add a slice of stadium rock to their infectious indie-folk/Americana goodness.
