​Have you ever wondered what shaped one of the modern era’s most beloved icons? The first look images are finally here for A24’s TONY, a new film diving straight into the early, formative days of Anthony Bourdain.

A summer of sun-soaked chaos Set during a defining summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts, in 1975, the film follows a 19-year-old Bourdain as he stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen. It is an electric origin story that explores the specific experiences, relationships, ambitions and contradictions that helped shape the man who would go on to inspire millions.

Under the direction of Matt Johnson, known for his work on BlackBerry and Nirvanna the Band the Show, the film captures the “sun-soaked chaos of a summer where every night feels momentous and a single moment can alter the course of a life.”

A stellar cast takes on 1975 The ensemble cast is packed with serious talent. Dominic Sessa steps into the kitchen alongside Emilia Jones, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rich Sommer and Stavros Halkias. We will also see appearances by Leo Woodall and the legendary Antonio Banderas.

Behind the scenes, the creative team brings a fantastic pedigree. Written by Johnson alongside Matthew Miller, Todd Bartels and Lou Howe, the project is produced by Tim White, Trevor White, Miller and Johnson. With cinematography by Michael Bauman, production design by Ryan Warren Smith, editing by Curt Lobb and Robert Upchurch, costumes by Chloe Karmin, and music by Jay McCarrol, the 1975 aesthetic is in safe hands.
