If you have ever promised yourself you would not miss Foo Fighters next time they were in town, this is the moment to circle the calendar. Frontier Touring has confirmed Foo Fighters are returning for an Australia and New Zealand run next summer, rolling their Take Cover stadium tour through major cities and a couple of very welcome regional stops.

The headline for Queensland fans is simple. Brisbane and Townsville are locked in for November 2026, with the tour then moving through Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide before heading to New Zealand and wrapping in Perth in January 2027. It is a big run, and it reads like the band is making a point of getting around, not just hitting the usual capitals and calling it a day.

Frontier Touring describes Foo Fighters as “one of the biggest and most beloved rock bands of all time” and notes the band’s “long-standing love” of Australia and New Zealand. That affection is not just PR talk, either. The announcement follows the band’s recent performance in Tasmania, described as “the biggest concert ever held in the State”, and their first ever appearance in Launceston. The announcement also points to frontman Dave Grohl’s onstage promise that the band would return before his birthday on January 14. This tour, with dates landing across November and January, certainly keeps that timeline front of mind.

There is also a nice extra detail for anyone who has watched big tours drift further and further toward the biggest venues only. This return adds two regional cities, Townsville and Newcastle, to the itinerary. Whether you are a local or just someone who would happily trade a longer drive for a slightly different kind of show day, it is a welcome move.

Across the Tasman, Christchurch is set to host the band at the city’s “newly built, state-of-the-art One New Zealand Stadium”, which the announcement says is on track for completion in April. Auckland is also on the schedule, giving New Zealand fans two chances to catch the tour before Foo Fighters head west for the final Perth date.

The other talking point is the support lineup, which is designed to get people through the gates early. Foo Fighters will share stages across Australia and New Zealand with 16 “rising acts”, handpicked by the band. For Brisbane, the special guests are Full Flower Moon Band (Brisbane) and Mini Skirt (Byron Bay). Townsville gets Full Flower Moon Band (Brisbane) and Downgirl (Sydney). Sydney’s bill pairs The Belair Lip Bombs (Frankston) with TEENS (Hobart). Newcastle features The Buoys (Sydney) and C.O.F.F.I.N (Sydney). Melbourne has The Belair Lip Bombs (Frankston) and FRENZEE (Melbourne). Adelaide’s supports are Kurralta Park (Adelaide) and Spooky Eyes (Launceston). Over in Christchurch, it is Dartz (Wellington) and Seek Help! (Dunedin). Auckland’s guests are Dick Move (Auckland) and Ringlets (Auckland). Perth closes out with Southern River Band (Perth) and Last Quokka (Perth).

All shows are listed as licensed all ages, which makes this a genuine whole-of-household proposition. It also raises the stakes slightly on planning, because stadium gigs tend to be the kind of events people organise early, not the kind you casually decide on the week of.
