It’s been a long time between drinks for Aussie fans of Franz Ferdinand, but the wait is finally over. Last seen touring the country in 2018, the multi-platinum Scottish band is heading back to Australia this summer with their trademark high-energy live show and a fresh batch of songs from their acclaimed new album, The Human Fear.

Franz Ferdinand will hit some of the most iconic venues around the country, kicking off at Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Wednesday 26 November, followed by Brisbane’s Riverstage on Saturday 29 November. They’ll then head to Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul on Tuesday 2 December, play Melbourne’s stunning Live At The Gardens at Royal Botanic Gardens on Friday 28 November, and wrap up with a huge show On The Steps at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Wednesday 3 December.

Adding to the buzz, the band will be supported on all dates by rising Aussie acts Teenage Dads and Delivery – with the exception of Thirroul, where Delivery will hold down the support slot solo.

The tour coincides with the release of The Human Fear, Franz Ferdinand’s latest studio album, which dropped in January to widespread praise. Described as “immediate, upbeat and life-affirming”, the album dives headfirst into classic Franz territory – punchy, hook-laden pop songs with plenty of edge. Produced by long-time collaborator Mark Ralph (of Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action fame), The Human Fear features standout singles like ‘Night Or Day’, ‘Audacious’, and ‘Bar Lonely’.

It also marks a new chapter for the band, with drummer Audrey Tait and guitarist Dino Bardot joining the studio lineup for the first time. Synth-master Julian Corrie has stepped further into the songwriting spotlight, collaborating closely with frontman Alex Kapranos and bassist Bob Hardy. Recorded at AYR studios in Scotland, the 11-track album explores the many ways fear shapes our lives – not just in dark moments, but in how we grow, survive and connect.

Since bursting onto the scene with 2004’s anthemic ‘Take Me Out’ – which famously topped the Triple J Hottest 100 – Franz Ferdinand have never really left the global spotlight. With more than 10 million albums sold, over 2.5 billion streams, and multiple awards including Brit, Ivor Novello, and Mercury Prize honours, their reputation for sharp songwriting and electrifying shows is set in stone.

Speaking of shows, they’ve played some of the world’s biggest – from Reading and Leeds to Primavera, Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival. Aussie fans can expect the same firepower this November and December.

Helping heat things up on tour are Teenage Dads, fresh off a breakout year that saw their debut album MAJORDOMO hit #1 on the Australian album charts. With a growing list of international gigs and a 2024 ARIA for Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist, they’re bringing serious momentum.

Meanwhile, Melbourne garage-punks Delivery are riding high off the back of their sophomore release Force Majeure, which landed them on Rolling Stone Australia's Future of Music 2025 list. With European tours, festival slots, and props from NPR under their belt, they’re no strangers to big stages.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday 14 May at 10am local time, with a Frontier Members presale starting Monday 12 May. Visit frontiertouring.com/franzferdinand for all the details.
