The City of Gold Coast has celebrated a significant achievement in its long-term vision for urban green space with the official opening of Greenheart Robina Parklands, the first completed stage of the city’s broader Greenheart Masterplan.

Spanning 22.5 hectares in Robina, this newly developed destination park offers a vibrant recreational space, capable of hosting hundreds of visitors daily. With over $25 million invested in Stage 1 upgrades, the park now features a wide range of amenities designed to encourage active lifestyles and support community wellbeing.

“The opening of Greenheart Robina Parklands marks a significant milestone in the City's commitment to fostering vibrant and accessible green spaces,” said Mayor Tom Tate. “It is a testament to our dedication to enhancing open spaces and providing valuable recreational facilities for our growing population.”

Designed to cater to a wide demographic, the parklands include a fully fenced playground for younger children, a challenging ‘tower play’ structure for older kids, a pedal park, and a dedicated water play area. The site also boasts an outdoor gym, yoga lawn, event and ball sports areas, and an off-leash dog zone complete with agility equipment. Barbecue areas, picnic shelters, and a Changing Places facility have also been added to ensure accessibility and comfort for all users.

An additional environmental benefit has come in the form of 400 newly planted trees and over 17,000 plants, contributing to the City’s green canopy and supporting local ecological health.

Mayor Tate noted the park’s economic contribution as well. “The great news is that 70% of total construction spend was delivered by Gold Coast businesses and with 62,000 hours of local employment provided, this project has already been a fantastic boost for our local workforce.”

The parklands also include upgraded sports fields with new goalposts and lighting, ensuring the space supports both casual and organised sporting activities.

“This project is a great example of our commitment to improving the quality of life for our community,” Mayor Tate added. “As the first stage of the Greenheart initiative, the park represents a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future for the Gold Coast.”

Looking ahead, the City is continuing to develop future phases of the Greenheart Masterplan, with community feedback playing a key role in shaping its progression.

To mark the Greenheart park’s opening, the City will host a Community Celebration Day on Saturday 3 May from 9am to 12pm, featuring live music, food trucks, and free activities for all ages.
