Jimmy Barnes, Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano and Jon Stevens today announced amongst headline acts for the fourth annual Surfers Paradise LIVE music festival from May 3 to 6. An initiative of the Surfers Paradise Alliance (SPA), Surfers Paradise LIVE transforms the heart of Surfers Paradise into a multi-stage live music festival over four days and nights with iconic Surfers Paradise beach as the unique gig backdrop. The free, family-friendly festival appeals to a broad array of musical tastes, with the high-octane Justice Crew and 2013 X-Factor Australia winner Reece Mastin also confirmed to headline the Friday night. Surfers Paradise LIVE placed third in the ‘Major Events and Festivals’ category at this year’s Queensland Tourism Awards, proving the festival is a hit on SPA’s year-round events calendar. Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Mike Winlaw said Surfers Paradise and its iconic beachfront provided an enviable stage to deliver high-quality, live events that are unmatched anywhere in Australia. “We are thrilled to have headline acts like Daryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens and Kate Ceberano playing their hits on our famous beachfront in a safe, community-inspired initiative,” Mr Winlaw said. “This event is now in its fourth year and features Australia’s best live acts under the sun and stars, with the waves crashing in the background and families enjoying the atmosphere. It doesn’t get much better than that. “There is another high-profile headline act still to be announced and we can’t wait to release the details early next year.” A key component of Surfers Paradise LIVE, the Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs) will also be held on Surfers Paradise beach for the second year on Thursday, May 3. A significant cultural partnership has been established between the GCMAs and SPA, which will see the event held on the iconic golden sands until 2022. GCMA co-founder Samantha Morris said the collaboration was a celebration of the city’s passion for live music. “Surfers Paradise has always been the home of live music on the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise LIVE makes it accessible for people of all ages,” Ms Morris said. “The Gold Coast Music Awards are a counterpoint for the festival. While Surfers Paradise LIVE will program some of Australia’s best-known artists, the Awards will showcase the Gold Coast’s best emerging talent. It really is the perfect partnership. “With the Gold Coast Music Awards being hosted on the eve of the festival and big acts performing over the following three days, Surfers Paradise is consolidating its reputation as a destination for live music.” Mr Winlaw said the five-year partnership reflected SPA’s dedication to the local Gold Coast music industry, with some local talent to be announced as main stage performers at the festival. “The GCMAs recognise and foster aspiring local artists, so teaming up with them is the perfect alignment for both organisations,” he said. Justice Crew and Reese Mastin will headline the event on Friday, May 4, followed by Daryl Braithwaite on Saturday evening, and Kate Ceberano and John Stevens on the evening of Sunday, May 6. The final major headline act will be announced along with the full line-up in 2018. For more information, visit www.surfersparadise.com. ]]>
