The wait is over for surfing fans, with competition officially called ON today for the Corona Cero New Zealand Pro Presented by Bonsoy. Quarter finals on the mens side will be settled today and the semi-finals for the women. Setting the stage for a massive finals day tomorrow. Event organisers put the action on hold all morning to wait for the tide and swell to fill in, but Manu Bay is now turning on clean surf in the three-to-four foot range.

With fantastic conditions expected to roll into tomorrow, fans can prepare for a thrilling finals day. Marking the very last day of the event window, meaning the competition will be completely wrapped up and the event winners will be crowned by the end of the day.

Men’s Quarterfinal Matchups

The lead-up to tomorrow’s New Zealand Pro finals begins today with the men’s Quarterfinals. American surfer Griffin Colapinto is hunting for his biggest result of the season, but he faces a tough test against event standout Filipe Toledo in the opening heat. The second heat promises fireworks as backhand specialists Morgan Cibilic of Australia and Rio Waida of Indonesia go head-to-head, with both chasing a guaranteed best result of 2026.

The action continues in heat three as Brazil’s Yago Dora takes on Cole Houshmand from the USA. To round out the men’s Quarterfinals, it is an all-Brazilian battle between Italo Ferreira and Miguel Pupo. Pupo has a golden opportunity to regain the Yellow Leaders Jersey with a big result here, while Ferreira is searching for his equal-best finish of the year.

Women’s Semifinals Action

The women’s draw in New Zealand is already down to the Semifinals, which will close out today’s surfing action and set the stage for tomorrow’s ultimate final. Heat one features an all-American clash between goofy-footers Alyssa Spencer and Sawyer Lindblad. Following them, heat two will see Hawaiian natural footers Bettylou Sakura Johnson and Carissa Moore battle for their spot in the final.

With clean surf and massive stakes on the line, tomorrow is shaping up to be an unforgettable finals day at Manu Bay.
