How To Get Your Family Gold Coast Holiday Ready

A family holiday is one of the most exciting events to plan and prepare for. Making memories that will last a lifetime, trying new experiences and seeing new places are just a few of the amazing things to look forward to.

In Australia, there are few places more ideal for a family holiday than the Gold Coast. This incredible beach destination has so much to offer the entire family. That being said, a little planning is still required in order to create a seamless family holiday experience.

Thankfully, we’re here to help. Here’s a little guide to help your family prepare for a trip to the Gold Coast.

Get Beach Ready

Going to Gold Coast means you are likely to spend a fair bit of time at the beach and enjoying the incredible coastline that the Gold Coast has to offer. For any family holiday, this means being beach ready. The sun can be unforgiving in Australia, so be sure to have all essentials required to enjoy the beach for a good couple of hours at a time. Jump onto eBay Australia through Qantas Shopping to earn Qantas Points alongside grabbing yourself a beach tent, a beach umbrella, and all the other coastal accessories to help elevate your Gold Coast holiday.

It’s also an ideal time to do an inventory of your swimmers, hats, and other sunsafe accessories in order to make sure everyone in the family has enough sun safe attire to last throughout your entire Gold Coast holiday. Being beach ready is crucial to experiencing a fun and enjoyable family holiday at the Gold Coast, especially if you’re planning to venture to the beach as much as possible during your time on the coast.

Take the chance to do a little research online and find out what other products might help ensure you enjoy your time on the sand or in the water, rather than come home with a less-than-ideal story to tell.

Booking Accommodation

The Gold Coast isn’t short of accommodation options, and there are literally thousands of options to stay as a family on the Gold Coast. Depending on how many of you there are in the family, you may want to consider a few different accommodation options.

If you are likely to want to stay in for meals and cook at home, then consider whether an accommodation-sharing service or a serviced apartment might be best for your family. If you are looking to enjoy the restaurant and food scene on the Gold Coast as a family, then perhaps a resort or hotel is a better option for you. No matter what choice you’re looking for, the Gold Coast will be sure to have plenty of accommodation to suit.

The one consistent question to answer is how far from the beach your accommodation will be situated. It’s ideal to be within walking distance of a swimming beach so that you can venture down whenever you feel like it, without having to pack the car or make a big deal out of the beach trip. Thankfully almost all accommodation options mention the proximity to the beach in their listings, so finding an ideal coastal view resort should be no trouble at all.

Theme Parks

One of the most popular attractions for any family heading to the Gold Coast is, of course, the region’s theme parks. Whilst not technically on the Gold Coast, the theme parks are only a short drive away from all the most popular Gold Coast accommodation options, making this particular item on your trip itinerary highly accessible for families travelling with younger kids.

We recommend securing your family’s theme park passes well ahead of time if you are hoping to head to the theme parks at all during your stay. Not only will this guarantee your spots, but it will also mean you can save a little money as well. Most of the parks can be included on a mega pass that gets the family access to all parks across the year. Return visit anyone?!

If you plan accordingly you can fit all of the parks into one family holiday, which will almost certainly mean you’ll be making memories for you and the kids that will last forever. Be sure to pack swimmers if you are going to get to the water parks, and pack your own cameras so you can capture your family’s thrilling moments on the rides even if you won’t be on the rides yourself.

Luggage

Any family holiday likely means bringing back a little more than what you left home with. The Gold Coast is no exception to that rule. If anything, it means you’re likely to come home with even more than usual. The Gold Coast offers incredible shopping experiences for the entire family, so coming home with a souvenir or two is almost a given.

Make sure you have prepared and booked a little extra luggage allowance for the trip home. Alternatively, if you can pack a little lighter on the way, you will have extra room for those holiday shopping purchases on the way home. Whichever option you choose, make sure you have a luggage allowance because it’s almost impossible not to shop on the Gold Coast.

A family holiday to the Gold Coast is a memory that you will be sure to carry with you for a lifetime, both individually as well as with your wider family, as you reminisce over many family dinners.

With this little guide, you can ensure that your family is ready to head up to the Gold Coast and have a whale of a time. Be sure to take plenty of photos to flesh out your family photo albums with mementos to accompany all your shared memories.
