InterContinental Sydney Double Bay Confirms Earlier Open of 6 November

Marking Sydney’s first major hotel launch in years, InterContinental Sydney Double Bay will open its doors on Thursday 6 November 2014 as the only five-star luxury hotel outside the CBD.

Finishing touches are being made to the 140-room property in Sydney’s prestigious Double Bay village, with its world-class team standing by ready to welcome guests from next month.

The bayside sanctuary opening marks the revival of the original building at 33 Cross Street, with restored features such as the grand staircase, Italian marble bathrooms and fireplaces, and Parisian balconies, enhanced by a contemporary redesign.

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay General Manager Frederic Brohez said the hotel would open all rooms, features and facilities, from the first floor to the sixth, simultaneously.

“We are now in the final stages of completion and are very excited to share this beautifully-transformed property with the local community and visitors to Double Bay and Sydney,” said Mr Brohez.

“We have seen this hotel grow from a construction site teeming with builders, painters and tilers, into a stunning contemporary retreat replete with designer furnishings, kitchens packed with produce and equipment, and more than 100 full-time staff ready to make our guests feel special.”

In the coming days, hotel Executive Chef Julien Pouteau will be conducting final menu tastings for destination restaurant Stockroom, while Head Sommelier Kabir Antoniak will be busy completing the expansive list of local and international wines.

The Stillery team will be filling the seven-metre-long marble bar with last arrivals of rare and vintage gins, and the rooftop pool overlooking the bay will be topped up ready to receive its first swimmer.

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay has worked together with developers and owners, Royal Hotels Australia and designers Bates Smart Architects to bring the bayside retreat to life over the past 12 months, ensuring no stone will be left unturned in delivering the luxury property to guests.

Reservations are now being taken for stays, dining experiences and events across the hotel from 6 November 2014, with locals and international visitors alike keen to be the first to experience the hotel’s unique offerings, such as the Rooftop Pool and Lounge, exclusive Club InterContinental lounge and French provincial courtyard,  and Sydney’s only fully separate kosher kitchen.

The ground floor retail precinct of the building will opened at a later time, with leased offerings including Snap Fitness 24-hour gym, luxury Trumps Spa, Henley Wholefoods, Saké Restaurant & Bar and a restaurant and bar offering by newly-formed hospitality company The Group.

Be one of the first to experience the hotel, with a special opening rate from AU$390 per night including breakfast for two from 6 November 2014. Subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply.
