Jingle Punks announced today that its own in-house musical ensemble, The Hipster Orchestra, will launch a summer residency at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles – the new 60s-inspired live music venue opened earlier this year by The h.wood Group and Interscope Records. Initially, The Hipster Orchestra will play every Thursday starting on May 18 through June 8. Each week, the Orchestra will play alongside surprise special musical guests and cameos from celebrity friends of Jingle Punks. Founded by Gutstadt, the ensemble is known for their arrangements of contemporary music and established classics for a string-based chamber group. The Hipster Orchestra was initially born out of a passion to explore Jingle Punks employees’ creativity and love of music outside of their work, as well as a way to garner more composing and arranging work for Jingle Punks’ creative studio, but the project has evolved to record numerous records and perform throughout the world. The ensemble is best known for its infectious EP’s covering songs from The Strokes and The White Stripes, to The Chainsmokers, Kayne West, and Frank Ocean, creating a post-modern take on today’s beloved hits. In one of its most high-profile collaborations to date, The Hipster Orchestra took the stage with rap legend Nas in Johannesburg, South Africa, for a festival performance to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut studio album, Gutstadt said, “The Hipster Orchestra started out as a hobby and has grown to become a vehicle to tour and travel the globe with some of the most badass artists around. To be launching at The Peppermint Club – built for this type of musical concept – seems like the perfect match. We’re hyped about the awesome momentum the Orchestra is seeing, including our upcoming deal with Lava Records for an album to be released later this year. Watch this space!” As an industry leader who has collaborated with some of music’s most recognized names, including Lil Wayne, G-Eazy, Brad Paisley and Timbaland, Gutstadt has led the group to work with brands as well as score films and TV shows. Gutstadt’s other recent projects and collaborations have resulted in industry accolades, such as a Sports Emmy nomination for his work with Steven Tyler and award-winning songwriter, Poo Bear, for the Pro Bull Riding brand. He and the Jingle Punks team also took home an ASCAP award this week for Top Unscripted Television Performance for season 11 of NBC’s The Voice. “I’m just excited to welcome Jingle Jared and his team of punks to The Peppermint Club, they are the epicenter of great musical ideas,” said co-founder of h.wood Group, John Terzian.
