Fresh from taking out the Australian Idol crown, Jindabyne local Kesha Nevé is already setting her sights on her next big stage. The Snowy Mountains singer-songwriter has just been announced for the growing line-up at the 2026 Gympie Music Muster this August, marking her highly anticipated debut at the festival.
“I’m so excited, I’m telling everyone who has ears,” she said, eager to share the news. While she has never attended the Muster before, glowing reviews from friends who have played and attended as fans have her ready for the experience. For Kesha, the festival environment is exactly where she belongs. “That open-air, storytelling side of country music, that’s where I feel most at home. I honestly can’t wait,” she shared.
Interestingly, the Gympie Music Muster crew had their sights set on Kesha well before her television victory. Programming director Bec Anderson revealed the festival had already booked her prior to the finale. “To see her take out the Idol crown was incredible and definitely icing on the cake,” Anderson said. The official announcement of her festival appearance was perfectly timed, dropping the day after her Idol win.
During her time on the show, Kesha became known for deeply connecting with every cover song she performed. Now, she is ready to share her own voice. “The show gave me the chance to tell stories through other people’s songs, but now I’m ready to tell my own,” she said, confirming that plenty of new material is on the way. “Everyone get excited, my original music is coming.”.
Music has been a lifelong journey for the artist. She recalls her dad buying her first guitar as soon as she learned how to use her hands. At just eight years old, she competed in a local contest called ‘Jindy Idol’, making her recent national television win a true full circle moment. Over the years, she has built her stage experience through gigs, busking, and travelling across rural areas, including time spent working in New Zealand.
Fans heading to the Muster can expect a set featuring familiar songs alongside her brand-new original tracks. But Kesha will not just be confined to the stage. She is keen to mingle with the crowds, check out the other stages, and perhaps even show off some boot scooting moves. “Half of my love for music is being in the crowd and watching other artists,” she said. “I’ll be out there, front and centre.”.
