Kiyomi's Transformation: A New Era of Japanese Dining on the Gold Coast

Kiyomi at The Star Gold Coast unveils a fresh look and feel, fusing Japanese tradition and modern innovation for an elevated dining experience

The Star Gold Coast is proud to announce a new chapter in Japanese signature dining with the unveiling of an elevated look and feel for its renowned restaurant, Kiyomi. This evolution of the dining experience is a harmonious blend of ritual and art, promising a multi-sensory journey that leaves guests yearning for more.

Kiyomi’s fresh approach is immediately evident in its revitalised interiors, which bring together traditional Japanese calligraphy artwork and contemporary mood lighting. The restaurant’s new design aims to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that subtly hints at its roots in Japanese culture. An enhanced entrance experience welcomes guests with a luxurious blend of raw and transformative textures, setting the tone for the dining experience within.

One of the standout features of Kiyomi’s transformation is the introduction of a private dining space. This sophisticated 16-seat area has been meticulously designed to offer an intimate and mood-enhancing dining experience that uplifts the senses. The private dining space draws inspiration from traditional Japanese elements and the restaurant’s refined aesthetic. Dramatic textures, innovative lighting, and bold graphic artwork come together to create a luxurious and engaging environment that enhances the overall ambience of Kiyomi.

Kiyomi’s elevated menu is a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to bringing theatre to dining. Head Chef Winson Law, who has helmed Kiyomi for seven years, has crafted a menu that leans into the umami-rich flavours of miso and soy sauce, as well as the delicate nuances of dashi. The revamped menu features new dishes such as Red Snapper, Sashimi and Kombujime Amaebi with pickled Daikon and Ginger Lime dressing, Mooloolaba Prawn Toast with Karashi miso, Spanner Crab and Cabbage, and aged Pork Tomahawk with Apple wasabi, Pork jus with Okinawa black sugar.

The new private dining space will also offer an exclusive Omakase experience that showcases the finest Australian produce. To complement the culinary offerings, Kiyomi will serve a sophisticated selection of beverages, including a comprehensive collection of Sakes, Japanese whiskies, world-class wines and champagnes, and innovative cocktails.

Richard Gush, The Star Gold Coast General Manager of Food and Beverage, Events, spoke about Kiyomi’s evolution, stating it is a roadmap for creating not just incredible dishes but an entire sensory journey that will captivate all who visit. He expressed his desire for Kiyomi to leave a lasting impression on all its guests, reinforcing the Gold Coast’s status as a world-class tourism and entertainment destination.

Kiyomi’s reinvention is a celebration of time-honoured Tokyo craftsmanship meeting Australia’s gastronomic adventurousness. It offers an exquisite bridge between Japanese culinary tradition and delicious modern innovation. Guests will have the opportunity to experience Kiyomi’s new look, feel and taste and reserve an exclusive dining experience in the private dining room from 23 May 2024.

This transformation represents a new era for Kiyomi, one that promises to deliver memorable dining experiences that celebrate the best of both Japanese and Australian cuisine.
