Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki is gearing up for another breakthrough performance as Supercars roars back into Queensland Raceway for the first time since 2019. The Century Batteries Ipswich Super440 kicks off next Friday, 8 August, bringing with it the climax of the 2025 Repco Sprint Cup.
Fresh from a landmark win at the NTI Townsville 500, Kostecki is relishing his new role with Ford powerhouse Dick Johnson Racing. The 27-year-old Perth native—now based in Brisbane—has endured a mixed start to the season, but his recent form has signalled a turning point. He currently sits sixth in the Supercars standings, poised to make a strong charge in the season’s back half.
Despite never racing a Supercar at Queensland Raceway, Kostecki is tipped to be a frontrunner when action begins at the Willowbank circuit. He joins more than a dozen drivers making their Supercars debut at the track, widely nicknamed “the paperclip” for its distinctive layout.
The Ipswich Super440 marks the eighth and final round of the Sprint Cup, with high stakes on the line. The series leader at the conclusion of the event will earn an automatic berth into the inaugural Supercars Finals, which commence at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 in October.
Currently leading the Sprint Cup by a commanding 220 points, Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Broc Feeney is the odds-on favourite to seal the spot. His teammate Will Brown, a Toowoomba local, remains in mathematical contention but will need a near-flawless weekend to bridge the gap.
Queensland Raceway will host a packed schedule, with two 120-kilometre Supercars races set for Saturday and a 200-kilometre finale on Sunday. Adding to the weekend’s appeal is the season’s only two and four-wheel crossover, featuring the Australian Superbike Championship alongside the car action.
Fans can also catch on-track battles from the Dunlop Super2 Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, and the Toyota GR Cup, promising a high-octane festival of motorsport across all three days.
