As construction of Brisbane’s newest entertainment precinct nears completion, The Fortitude Music Hall is pleased to announce Mark Gibbons will be joining the team as Head of Bookings in a position that will see him also take over the booking role at The Triffid from February 4th, 2019. Mark comes to the role with six years experience booking some of Sydney’s most iconic rooms for Century Venues in Sydney (Enmore, Metro, Factory Theatre).
“With the rapid growth and changes Brisbane is undergoing, there’s a clear need in the city for a 3000+ capacity venue” he said. “As soon as JC shared his vision with me I was excited to be part of it. Working at Century Venues has taught me how important these spaces are to the fabric of the community around them. I believe that a city is only as strong as its culture. Much has already been achieved in a short amount of time since the Triffid opened; with a core ethos on hospitality forwards and backwards from stage. The community that it’s spawned are testament to that. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Located in Brunswick Street Mall in the heart of Fortitude Valley – Brisbane’s foremost music destination – The Fortitude Music Hall will showcase incredible state-of-the-art production while paying homage to the iconic Brisbane venue Festival Hall, which was the similar sized venue between 1959 and 2003. It is set to become Brisbane’s premier live music destination.
“After the success of opening the Triffid four years ago I’m pumped about extending this ethos into a new larger venue, the Fortitude Music Hall” venue director John Collins commented. “I’m excited about working with Mark, his expertise in booking multiple venues will be a massive asset for both the Triffid and the Fortitude Music Hall. His energy and enthusiasm is going to make him a great part of the team. I’m looking forward to working alongside him and building a great experience for the artist and Brisbane’s music fans.”
