In a stylish and stellar move, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has unveiled an all-female hosting team for the 72nd annual Miss Universe competition. The announcement has set the stage for an unforgettable event, with seasoned hosts Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai returning alongside the multi-talented Maria Menounos.
This year’s Miss Universe is scheduled to take place in El Salvador on November 18th, 2023. The competition will be streamed on The Roku Channel and broadcast by Telemundo within the United States. Executive Produced by Sergio Alfaro and his LA-based team at InventTV, the event promises to be a dazzling spectacle.
Maria Menounos, a versatile television host, presenter, actress, New York Times-bestselling author, entrepreneur, Emmy Award-winning journalist, and host of “Heal Squad,” is stepping into the role of a host for the first time. However, she’s no stranger to the Miss Universe community, having won the title of Miss Teen Massachusetts in 1995. With a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry, Menounos is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the show.
Joining Menounos are Jeannie Mai, an Emmy Award-winning TV host, producer, and advocate, and Olivia Culpo, an actress and model. Mai, who previously hosted the show in 2011 and 2022, is well-acquainted with the Miss Universe stage, while Culpo, a former Miss Universe and Miss USA (2012), has also hosted the competition in the past. Mai can also be seen co-hosting the CBS game show Raid The Cage this fall, while Culpo recently graced the screen in the semi-finals of Fox’s The Masked Singer.
In addition to the main hosts, the show will feature two talented backstage correspondents: Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, a Filipina model, singer, television personality, and Emmy Award-winning TV host, actress, and producer Zuri Hall. Gray and Hall are returning after their roles as backstage correspondents at the 71st MU ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for viewers.
Adding more star power to the event, the multi-platinum artist, EGOT recipient, songwriter, producer, and activist John Legend is set to perform live. His performance is bound to elevate the evening’s entertainment.
For the Spanish-language telecast, Telemundo has roped in renowned TV personalities Jacqueline Bracamontes and Danilo Carrera. They will be joined by Andrea Meza, Carlos Adyan, and Julia Gama, who will provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access and special coverage, promising a comprehensive and captivating Spanish-language broadcast.
Paula Shugart, President of MOU and the program’s Executive Producer, expressed her excitement about the talented women presenters, stating, “Our hosts this year exemplify the best of the Miss Universe family, and this is going to be a fantastic show.”
