Nathaniel is Yours

There’s just something about Nathaniel! Since he graced The X Factor stage back in 2012, Australia has fallen in love with his charm, boyish good looks and down-to-earth persona! Managing to produce chart-topping singles that include a scrumptious musical mixture of R&B, pop and a little bit of soul, Nathaniel has certified his status as a bona fide rock star and the future is looking bright for the 28-year-old.

Nathaniel’s musical pedigree is not too shabby for someone came in sixth place on The X Factor. “The show was definitely a platform to ignite my career, but I’ve worked very hard since the show,” he says. “It’s been a whirlwind for me since day 1, and I’ve grown and progressed as an artist since The X Factor days.” Indeed he has, often compared to talents such as Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars, Nathaniel’s singles. You and Live Louder are still soaring up the music charts. “It’s been a great evolution, and I’m extremely proud and grateful for my time on The X Factor.”

Lavishing in his current success as he has just realised his debut album Yours, Nathaniel modestly admits the road to musical stardom has been long. “This record has been in the mix for nearly a year or more, and it’s been an awesome process, but a lot of hard work,” he says. “I’m so excited the album is finally coming out, and I’ve been getting a good response so far. I’ve written songs in Europe, America and here, it’s been an incredible experience, and I’m finally glad it all came together.” So what can we expect from the double platinum Aria award winning artist? Nathaniel sums up his new record as “soulful and personal… the album shows a lot of depth about love, relationships and breakups.”

In a competitive music market where new artists are constantly emerging, Nathaniel has clearly developed his musical style- the perfect combination of R&B, pop and soul. So while Live Louder will get you grooving on the dance floor, You will pull your heart strings and Flava will be the unofficial summer anthem. This diverse musical range has undeniably catapulted Nathaniel from a sixth place talent show winner to one of the most well-known and in-demand Australian artists. But even with all this success, Nathaniel remains incredibly humble and explains he’s just happy to be making music. It is this sense of modesty that has only strengthened Nathaniel’s likeability as an artist.

Further adding to his status as a musical genius is the fact Nathaniel writes his songs. It’s a process he describes as “therapeutic” and a way in which he can connect his feelings with fans. “I write the majority of stuff on my own. It’s a collaborative process on this record as well, so I’m very happy at how it’s turned out,” he says. “I’m definitely inspired by love, relationships, breakups… life in general!” And while he can’t pick his favourite song from the record, jokingly comparing it to choosing your favourite child, Nathaniel believes each song on the album will resonate in some way with fans. “I’m personally inspired to make music about things that happen in life, and I believe people will connect in some way,” he says. “The record covers a broad spectrum of lyrical ideas and in doing that I think it shows my versatility as an artist. For me, all these songs have their particular story and sound. I wanted to make sure that I created an album in which every song was different, and I think we achieved that.”

There’s no denying the future is bright for Nathaniel, who is only at the beginning of his very successful music career. “My dream would be to collaborate with Pharrell Williams and write some good music with him,” he says. So what’s next for the in-demand superstar? “I’m definitely trying to sort out a tour for next year. We’re still in the linguistics of it, but I’m so keen to go on the road and put on a show!”
