​This October, the traditional GC500 motorsport event will transform into a city-wide festival featuring music, live entertainment, and community activities that extend beyond the racetrack. At the centre of this expanded programme is the newly launched Track Club powered by Boost Mobile, which invites the public to run the famous Surfers Paradise street circuit.
From a Small Trial to a Grand Circuit Run
The initiative expands on an exclusive trial run held last year. During his Uncomfortable Challenge, athlete and current Young Australian of the Year Nedd Brockmann led a small group of just 100 runners around the circuit. The response prompted Supercars to expand the experience, opening it up to 2,500 participants in 2026. On the morning of Friday 23 October, Brockmann will return to the circuit to lead this new cohort. Runners and walkers of all fitness levels can complete up to two laps of the track, experiencing the motorsport venue from a completely unique perspective.
Supercars Chairman Barclay Nettlefold explained that the Gold Coast has an incredible running culture and a strong appetite for experiences that bring people together. He stated: "Track Club powered by Boost Mobile is about much more than running. It's a celebration of community and participation, helping create a race-week tradition where entertainment, music and Gold Coast culture all come together." Supported by Tourism and Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast, the festival program is designed to reflect the lifestyle and energy of the city.
Every Step Supporting Australians in Need
Beyond the fitness and community aspect, the event serves an important charitable purpose. Supercars has committed to donating $15 from every Track Club registration directly to Mobilise, a charity dedicated to tackling homelessness across Australia. This donation forms a key part of the ongoing partnership with Brockmann's Uncomfortable Challenge. The link between physical activity and charity is a primary driver for the event, ensuring that every participant's physical effort translates directly to aid for fellow Australians in need.
Brockmann expressed his passion for the initiative, noting that it combines physical challenges with supporting those in need. He stated: "What I love about this is seeing people getting active, taking on new challenges and helping our fellow Aussies in need at the same time. That's exactly what the Uncomfortable Challenge is all about, and Track Club is a perfect fit.
