Perth’s iconic Royal Queensbury Club Championship run by local personality Troy Barbagallo, has once again snatched the spotlight, securing its place as the top fashion event in Western Australia. Renowned fashion editor Deborah Thomas, famed for her work with Cleo, Elle, and the Women’s Weekly, has christened it “Perth’s Met Gala,” stamping it as the must attend fashion event of the year.
“The Royal Queensbury Club Championship in Perth remarkably blends the Met Gala’s red carpet fashion and Super Bowl-like sporting entertainment. I’ve not come across anything quite like it before. It’s an incredible platform supporting a plethora of charities, including our own Camp Quality. It’s an A-List event you simply can’t afford to miss. We’re stoked to join hands with Pink Tank Events for RQCC again in 2023.”
Said Deborah Thomas CEO of Camp Quality.
The RQCC charity gala is no stranger to this type of praise and recognition. In 2019, celebrity chef George Calombaris, while filming his final season of MasterChef in Western Australia, also compared Perth’s Queensbury Championship to the prestigious Met Gala. This repeated comparison only emphasises the event’s magnitude and wide-reaching influence.
The RQCC charity gala, with its commitment to supporting a great cause and delivering thrilling ringside action, is also becoming famous for its glamorous red carpet arrivals. The annual event boasts a guest list that includes Perth’s who’s who, fashion industry giants, and celebrities, many of whom jet annually from the east coast to the west just for this event. Their presence significantly adds to the atmosphere of this must-attend gala on Perth’s social calendar.
The RQCC Gala takes cues from the historic Royal Queensbury Club Championship, a nod to the time honoured “Queensberry Rules” that kicked off in London in 1743. Pink Tank Events, the team behind the RQCC, has converted this idea into one of our era’s most distinguished charitable events.
Each year, we see twenty gallant boxers, male and female, stepping into the ring with just eleven weeks of RQCC training and zero past fighting experience. Their adrenaline-soaked bouts captivate a crowd of over a thousand, made up of Perth’s A-listers, dedicated sports fans, and media personalities, and has helped raise over $1m in 2022 and a total of over $3.3m for Toybox Australia since its inception in 2016.
So, who will be the brave ones stepping into the ring, who will dazzle on the red carpet this year, and will you be there to soak up all the excitement?
