Powderfinger Expand 2027 Comeback Tour with Encore Dates

Powderfinger add final Encore Run dates across Australia in 2027 after selling out 300,000 tickets in six days.

It started with cryptic billboards and towering light projections at prominent locations around Australia, kicking off a nation’s curiosity. When fans cracked the code, the news that Powderfinger were returning lit up the country. The response was beyond anything the band could have imagined, with more than 300,000 tickets snapped up for the first run of tour dates in just six days as every show across every city sold out completely. Now, Powderfinger have announced that they will bring their 2027 comeback tour home with a final Encore Run of shows across November and December 2027.

The Encore Run brings new tour locations into the schedule, including two nights at Cornelian Bay Oval in Hobart and a show at Stage 88 in Canberra. Local fans in Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory who previously secured tickets to shows in other cities will be able to request a refund on their original event tickets if they manage to buy tickets for their hometown show. Full details on how to request a refund will be shared once the new shows go on sale, with fans advised to subscribe to powderfinger.com for more information.

Beyond the new cities, Powderfinger will pitch their stadium-sized tent back at Melbourne Park Oval for two additional nights and add two more shows in Perth at Sandalford Estate. Adelaide fans have also been acknowledged, with the band letting them know they have not been forgotten. For the grand finale, the band will take it outdoors for two festival-format shows at the Brisbane Showgrounds, bringing the tour home to the city where it all began. The very final show will be an all-Brisbane band celebration and a tribute to their hometown.

Bernard Fanning shared the band’s motivation behind adding the extra dates on behalf of Powderfinger:

“When we saw how many people missed out on tickets, we knew we couldn’t leave it there. So we’re adding some final shows and we’ve been able to include dates in Hobart and Canberra, which we’re really excited about. We also have some very talented mates joining us. Thank you for keeping the faith and for being so patient. We can’t wait to see you out there. Love BF xx”

A Celebration of Homegrown Talent

True to their promise, Powderfinger have curated an all-Australian lineup of support acts to back local artists, crews, managers, and music industry creatives. Across The Encore Run, the band will be joined by a powerhouse lineup of support acts, from Australian favourites Ocean Alley, Violent Soho, The Living End, Ball Park Music, John Butler Trio, Something For Kate, Thelma Plum, DMA’S, You Am I, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, The Preatures, The Belair Lip Bombs, and Luca Brasi, to emerging artists including Full Flower Moon Band, South Summit, Carla Geneve, Banjo Lucia, and Special Features.
