After a long week waiting for a strong cold front to pass over the coast, competition has been called ON at the Western Australia Margaret River Pro, Stop No. 2 of the 2026 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). Men’s Quarterfinals will commence at 8:05 a.m. AWST with the women’s Quarterfinals to follow. Both men’s and women’s Semifinals are on standby, along with both Finals. Main Break is four to six feet plus and has cleaned up, but still has some bumps on the surface. There is a chance it could continue to clean up, and competition could continue right through until winners are crowned, but with onshore winds expected throughout the day, a call will be made later this morning on whether to continue or go back on standby for competition to be completed tomorrow.

Crosby Colapinto (USA) will be looking for his best result at Margaret River and today will take on three-time WSL World Champion and former Margaret River winner Gabriel Medina (BRA) in Heat 2 of the Quarterfinals.

Reigning WSL World Champion Molly Picklum (AUS) will be looking to go all the way in the West for the first time in her career, but will first need to overcome Luana Silva (BRA) in Heat 3 of the women’s Quarterfinals.

World Champions Caitlin Simmers (USA) and Carissa Moore (HAW) will round out the women’s Quarterfinals this morning. Simmers is looking for her first win at this location, while Moore is looking for a historical fourth victory at this location.
