Congratulations To EVES THE BEHAVIOR For Best Music Video & Sahara Beck For Best Folk Singer/Songwriter

In a ceremony held at the Brisbane Powerhouse last night, the winners of the2016 Queensland Music Awards were announced. Congratulations to Dew Process artist Eves The Behavior (Hannah Karydas) for winning Best Music Video for ‘TV’ and Create/Control artist Sahara Beck who took out Folk Singer/Songwriter category for her song ‘Mother Mother’. EVES THE BEHAVIOR, the only artist with three nominations (across two categories): ‘TV’ (Best Pop, Best Music Video) and ‘Electrical’ (Best Music Video). EVES THE BEHAVIOR’s mesmerising film clip for ‘TV’ was directed by the ARIA-award nominated Josh Logue (who has worked with Empire of the Sun, Madonna, The Flaming Lips and Death Cab for Cutie) Hannah says about the compelling clip: “The initial concept started with the cinematic landscapes of David lynch films (circa Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive). I wanted a bunch of characters, which were created from some of my favourite literature. For example, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. We filled a room with strong characters and then placed me in it, turning me into a character too. Welcome to my space – it is perfect for the song and a perfect introduction to what comes next.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3wazfdqkkw&feature=youtu.be

EVES THE BEHAVIOR’s stunning four track EP was released July, 2016 via Dew Process / UMA and features previously released singles ’TV’ and ‘Electrical’, both of which became fast favorites at triple j and have gained in excess of 2.6 milliontotal combined plays online, a remix of ‘TV’ from the hands of producer /Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa. EVES THE BEHAVIOR sold out her debut headline Melbourne and Sydney EP launch shows late in 2015, with tickets for the first Melbourne date at Shebeen being snapped up within two days of announce. EVES THE BEHAVOR, who was unable to attend the ceremony, is currently residing in London working on her debut album alongside song writer Samuel Dixon (Sia, Adele) and Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint. Karydas spoke to The Music recently regarding her QMA nomination and imparted details of the writing process “It’s my first record, so I’m sort of like feeling in the dark as to how to make a record, you know?” she admits. “‘Cause I’ve never done this before. It’s a lotta fun — it’s not stressful, it’s just more like I sometimes have days where I freak out [about] whether I’m doing it the right way and then I realise, ‘Well, it’s completely up to me, I can do it however I want’.
