The Gold Coast has a new accommodation option with Quest Southport recently opening its doors, bringing 90 spacious, self-contained apartments to 29-31 Lather Street. Topped with a rooftop pool that features sweeping city views, the property aims to give guests a relaxing space to cool off after a busy day working or exploring the area.
The purpose-built apartment hotel offers a range of options, from studios up to three-bedroom , including accessible rooms. Alongside secure on-site parking, a fitness centre, and a guest laundry, every apartment comes with either a kitchenette or a fully equipped kitchen. It is a practical setup for those wanting to shop locally and cook their own meals without feeling like they are living out of a suitcase.
A Hub for Business and Leisure
Southport has grown significantly, moving past its reputation as just a thoroughfare to the southern beaches. Today, it operates as a genuine hub, housing the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, Griffith University, and major government and legal offices. With a maturing retail and dining scene and the light rail right on the doorstep, guests can connect easily to Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
This shift in the area mirrors a change in what visitors want from their stays. David Mansfield, Managing Director of The Ascott Limited Australasia, notes that the opening reflects the strength of the local market.
“Travellers are increasingly looking for accommodation that gives them more – more space, more flexibility, more of a home base. Apartment-style stays have always made practical sense for business travellers and project teams, but we’re seeing strong demand from leisure travellers and families too. Quest Southport offers all of that, in a location that genuinely has it all.”

Local Roots and Long-Term Vision
The property is owned and developed by the Vecchio Group, marking their second Quest project. The group’s history began when John Vecchio arrived in Australia in 1960 with just five pounds sterling, building a business that his son Sam later expanded into a major development company.
For Sam Vecchio, Managing Director at Vecchio Property Group, the focus is firmly on longevity. “We invest in places we believe in, and we’re in Southport for the long term – not building to sell. We wanted an asset that would hold its quality for decades, and Quest’s corporate model gives us that. The property looks after itself when the people running it have genuine skin in the game.”
This focus on community is echoed by Fleur Nadzielski, the local franchisee operator of Quest Southport. Putting community-minded operators at the heart of the business is a core part of the Quest model.
“Opening Quest Southport is an incredibly proud milestone for me. As my third Quest property, it reflects both my passion for the brand and my commitment to delivering exceptional accommodation experiences. As a Gold Coast local, I’m especially excited to bring this new property to market in the community I proudly call home. I look forward to welcoming guests, creating local opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of Southport and the wider Gold Coast region.”
Quest continues to expand its footprint in Australia. With over 120 properties currently, the network.
