Reardon-Smith Through to Semi Finals of the HIF Masters & Women's

The race for the 2015 Roxy Pro Trials wildcard heated up today on day one of the HIF Masters and Women’s on the Sunshine Coast.

Coolum Beach played convivial host to the second of a two event series that saw Queensland’s best Women and Male Masters fight it out for critical ratings points as they vied for a spot at the forthcoming Australian Titles in August.

Snapper Rocks twin sisters, Amiya and Brodie Doyle are on a crash course for a showdown after both girls snatched last-minute victories in their opening round heats this morning.

Series ratings leader, Brodie Doyle kept her family and friends on the beach on their feet during her opening heat. With less than a minute to go, Doyle was sitting in third place to Noosa’s Vittoria Farmer and Currumbin’s Jade Wheatley. In the dying seconds, Doyle jagged a sneaky right-hander and proceeded to execute several critical maneuvers to lock in a great score and relegate Wheatley to third place.

Doyle and Elanora’s Ellie Brooks will now duke it out tomorrow in the finals for the much sought after Roxy Pro Trials Wildcard and opportunity to perform on a world stage at an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour event.

Local surfer and top seed Dave Reardon-Smith (Coolum, QLD) wasted no time in digging deep into his bag of new-school tricks in his opening round heat, scoring an easy win while banking the highest single-wave score of the morning.

Reardon-Smith is now the front-runner to win the men’s HIF Wave of the Weekend with a 9.33 (out of a possible 10 points).

This afternoon will see Queensland’s best Junior Girls hit the water at Coolum with great conditions expected to continue throughout the weekend.

The HIF Queensland Masters and Women’s State surfing series caters for female surfers ranging from under 16 girls to Over 35 Women and Over 35 Men to Over 55 Men.
