The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach,  Stop no 2 on the 2019 World Surf League Championship Tour has been called OFF for the day due to small swell.

The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach,  Stop no 2 on the 2019 World Surf League Championship Tour has been called OFF for the day due to small swell and unfavourable wind direction.

The next call for the Rip Curl Pro will be tomorrow at 9 am AEST when event organisers will reassess the conditions.

“The event is off for today,” said Kieren Perrow, WSL Competition Director. “We have small swell and light, onshore winds. The conditions are not great. We will come back tomorrow morning for another call.”

With another lay day, anticipation continues to build for the next swell at The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach and the upcoming Round 3 matchups. The opening men’s heat will see World Title hopeful Julian Wilson (AUS) take on 11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater (USA). Both surfers will look to bounce back from sub-par results at Stop No. 1 on the Gold Coast.

When competition continues, injury replacement Sage Erickson (USA) will battle for a big result in the all-Californian matchup with World Title hopeful Lakey Peterson (USA) in the opening Heat of Round 1.
