Get ready for a hearty Italian feast; Roy’s by Gemelli has reopened in Sorrento with a fresh new look and layout, and an entire Italian Gelateria is now open next door.

The favourite local Italian eatery has been feeding the people of Sorrento and Bundall for the past five years; earlier this year, the venue closed its doors for a few months to make way for a new look and layout while welcoming in a new chapter for Roys.

Now, locals that have been waiting and watching with hungry eyes need wait no longer – the new and improved Roy’s is now open, bringing the Sorrento staple back to life just in time for the holidays.

Alec Carney, Director of the Gemelli Group, which now includes five venues, Gemelli Italian James Street, Gemelli Italian Broadbeach, Gemellini, Bar Tano and Roy’s, said that the delicious changes and complete venue refit were a response to the booming business and upgrades across the area. “The local market is stronger than ever, and you can see the change creeping in and reflected in every inch of Bundall, right back to our spot in the Riviera Plaza,” Mr Carney said.

Named after the Gemelli brother’s friendly four-legged friend, the adorable Groodle Roy, the restaurant is an ode to family, fun, and authentic food.

Working with Daly Projects to refit the venue to be as friendly and approachable as its namesake, the brothers behind Gemelli Group have spent weeks finding fresh ways to elevate the restaurant experience above and beyond for their favourite people, their customers. s“Everything is brand new but the actual brand itself – we’ve gutted the interiors, taken away the closed-off rooms and replaced them with an open-style dining space, as well as tagging on the highly anticipated gelato shop next door.”

Whilst Roy’s is known for its hearty pizza and pasta dishes that feel like a home-cooked meal away from home, the star of the show is about to see a dramatic shift from the carb-lover’s dream to… dessert?
A new mouth-watering menu of hand-churned artisan gelato with fresh and local ingredients has arrived at Roy’s.
At the helm is the best of the best Italian gelato chef Emanuele Malara, who has come in from Sicily, where his family have been perfecting their gelato process for four generations.
If there is something new on the gelati list that will catch your eye, we guarantee it will be the Coffee Soaked Sponge and Mascarpone Tiramisu Gelati, the perfect bite to satiate any sweet tooth. “

So get the family together and head on into Roys by Gemelli….

It’s still the same Roy’s you know and love, but new, improved, and ready to spoil all of Sorrento this summer and beyond.
