Runaway Bay Tavern has unveiled its newly renovated bistro and beer garden, marking the completion of the second and final stage of the venue’s transformation into a modern local for the northern Gold Coast. Building on last year’s sports bar refresh, these latest works introduce an expanded bistro and a new, sprawling beer garden with a dedicated playground, offering more space for casual catch-ups, after-work drinks, family gatherings, live sport, and midweek meals.
Expanded Bistro and Outdoor Beer Garden
The Runaway Tavern bistro space is bright, welcoming, and family friendly. A dual-sided bar serves as the focal point of the room, featuring lush plants, bright colours, and warm timber that reflect the coastal subtropics surroundings. Having expanded into the former function room, the bistro now provides a flexible layout suitable for groups of all sizes. New furniture, banquette seating, and cosy dining pockets allow the room to shift between everyday dining, group bookings, and larger occasions.
Connecting with the refreshed outdoor terrace dining area, the new beer garden offers casual seating and family-friendly dining under a partial fixed roof, umbrellas, or in the open air. Younger guests have access to a brand-new dedicated playground, while sports enthusiasts can watch major events on a 3.5-metre-wide screen showing broadcasts live and loud all year-round. The connected layout allows easy flow between indoor and outdoor areas, incorporating abundant greenery and artwork celebrating local waterways and wildlife to align with the northern Gold Coast lifestyle.
Refreshed Menu and Weekly Event Schedule
The venue’s refreshed menu combines classic pub favourites with new signature items. Alongside staples like schnitzel, fish and chips, quality steaks, and salt and pepper calamari, diners can select dishes such as Tin Can Nachos, Pub Carbonara, Queensland Prawn & Lobster Roll, Fried Chicken Wings, Barramundi, and Lamb Rump, as well as a dedicated kids’ menu.
Runaway Bay Tavern hosts a weekly calendar of specials and activities seven days a week:

- Tuesday: $26 Steak Tuesdays and free pool all day.
