Here in the Southern Hemisphere, summer is officially over. All we are left with now are memories of days at the beach, the remnants of what were formally glowing tans and a sour taste in our mouths at the thought of our favourite ice cream flavour. But here at GC Mag we have many reasons to celebrate – we have hit the seven year mark! To celebrate this milestone and to keep summer alive a little bit longer – although let’s face it, here in Queensland we don’t experience any season EXCEPT summer – the team at GC Mag have put together a glamorous beachside shoot.
The looks were created by stylist Katherine Galvin, who is the co-director of ID Couture. She had a vision to produce the overarching theme of a relaxed beachside celebration. Katherine explains that the shoot was “one of the most productive shoots we have done in quite some time. Everyone who contributed put a lot of soul and effort into it.” Our gorgeous models, Brooklyn Kelly, Eleea Navarro and Lauren McGeachin, wore a colour palette of blues, pinks and purples and still managed to look glamorous whilst being wind-swept at the same time. The outfits showcased are from some of the best and most successful home-grown swimwear labels known not only locally but also abroad.
Katherine explains that, “Island State features stunning international prints – images from New York, Greece, Spain, Egypt and Italy along with electric colours and bold basics. The spectacular shades featured are from Bailey Nelson. With 7 boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and 3 boutiques in London they are definitely one to watch!”
“Made from the finest Italian lycras, Molly and Polly Swimwear is the brainchild of the uber talented, Kirsten Beck. Kirsten’s work is known for the fashion forward females of today’s society! Her styles include ice cream colours, retro inspired designs, and high waisted swimwear,” says Katherine.
“Also featured was Veve Glamour swimwear, which is just that – glamorous! Veve Glamour swimwear is designed to make you feel sexy, stylish and confident. Even Famous Playboy Playmate Crystal Hefner has co-designed a collection with Veve. We also featured accessories from Sha Sha, a Brisbane based boutique, to add a wave of opulence to these perfectly designed bikinis!” she adds.
Make-up artists Kylie Eustace and Nikki Mitchell worked their magic on the models, while established fashion photographer Michael Greves snapped away behind his camera, capturing all the fantastic shots of the day. Michael also brought along his other favourite toy, Le Truck. Le Truck provides everything you could want in a fixed studio, but also has the added benefit of being completely mobile. “Producers, creatives, stylists and clients can all benefit from the comfort and convenience of working with Le Truck’s smooth and efficient workflow, with space for private client liaison, and integrated refreshment and catering,” Katherine explains.
It was quite exciting that the gathering of these creatives was all due to the existence of GC Mag. Over the past seven years, GC Mag has come a long way, featuring famous celebrities and other content from all across the globe and being read internationally in 170 countries. We are so proud of the things we have achieved over these seven years, but we could not do any of it if it wasn’t for our amazing readers! We can never thank our readers enough for their continued support and loyalty. Rest assured, there will be no Seven Year Itch à la Marilyn Monroe – we will make sure we keep bringing you the hottest music, lifestyle and fashion news from around the world. We look forward to the next seven years with you!
