Byron Bay’s winter calendar is set to heat up as Stone & Wood confirms the return of its annual community gathering. The brewery has announced that the Festival of the Stone will take place for its 12th year on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

Set against the backdrop of the Stone & Wood brewery in Byron Bay, the event promises a celebration of live music, community, and tradition. Running from 3 pm to 10 pm, the festival welcomes locals and visitors alike to enjoy a winter evening characterised by good company and fresh beer.

At the heart of the festival lies the ceremonial tapping of the annual Stone Beer. This limited-edition brew pays homage to ancient brewing methods that utilise glowing hot stones.

The preparation for this release begins well before the festival gates open. A month prior to the event, the Stone & Wood Brewing Co team joins with the local community for Stone Brew Day. During this ceremonial gathering, stones are heated over a woodfire and lowered directly into the kettle. This unique process imparts the rich, smoky flavours that distinguish the Stone Beer from standard brews.

Supporting the Northern Rivers Community

While the festival serves as a celebration of brewing and music, it also addresses a critical local issue. Stone & Wood has confirmed that Festival of the Stone 2026 will once again support Fletcher Street Cottage through the Ingrained Foundation. The event aids in raising funds for the hub’s essential services, advocacy, and practical support for those experiencing homelessness.

The need for such support remains pressing. The latest NSW Street Count figures indicate that Byron Shire continues to face high rates of rough sleeping. In 2025, 291 people were recorded sleeping rough in the area, a figure second only to the City of Sydney. By attending, festival-goers contribute to a cause that directly assists vulnerable members of the Northern Rivers community.

The Festival of the Stone Lineup will be announced soon.

While the full artist lineup is yet to be revealed, Stone & Wood advises music and beer lovers to save the date and watch their website and social media channels for ticket releases and announcements.
