The energy was high at Burleigh Heads this morning as a group of world-class surfers gathered to mark the return of elite competition to the iconic Gold Coast point break.

With the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro set to officially kick off tomorrow, top athletes Isabella Nichols, Italo Ferreira, Jack Robinson, Stephanie Gilmore, Gabriela Bryan and local Liam O’Brien came together to celebrate the long-awaited return of Championship Tour (CT) surfing to Burleigh Heads.

It’s the first time in over a decade that Burleigh will host a CT-level event, bringing world-class talent back to one of competitive surfing’s most historic locations.

The gathering also marked the official launch of the Gold Coast Pro, as the athletes met with media and officals – just one day before the competition window opens.

With local favourites and current ranking leaders in the mix, the stage is now set for an exciting week of high-performance surfing right in the heart of the Gold Coast.
